He was flown to the UK last year and trainers were hired. It looks to me like he was cast but now this late in the game they have a new Vader cast, his contribution has been dropped.

9-12 is probably the perfect age for it; the dick jokes aren't too-too dirty so you don't mind them seeing it, and the meta-jokes are simple enough that they can understand them. And if they've seen Star Wars, all the better.

I've only been able to skim the last 15 pages. Did you guys discuss this? It dovetails heavily into the speculation about what Rey 2.0s character is about.

Apparently the Mads character is some kind of Oppenheimer figure in the creation of the death star. The woman is his daughter. I think you're meant to read the 'I rebel' as a sarcastic or tongue in cheek response by a black sheep acknowledging her Daddy issues. It explains why she is an asset for the rebellion if they can convince her to help them.

I'm ready to move on from that trope as much as the next guy. But if it works, I don't really care. Eventually, enough of these will make a billion dollars that they'll feel comfortable abandoning all the worn "tried and true" stuff and get on with something totally different.

I think the whole anthology thing is an experiment in both. There is room for what works and there is room for something brand new. Hopefully, the anthology films (at least), once they are proven viable, will be an outlet for more untested Star Warsing.

We'll see. Money is always the bottom line. But I hope another lesser aspect for Disney would be to stretch the universe and not just build it up.

Yes and no. I think it will be a new variation on old themes. It won't be as overt in regards to signaling its references as TFA was. But there are already a lot of familiarities.

but those references are also what makes it star wars. They need to be there to a point to ensure everything is part of the same larger universe. It's a big galaxy. If the Narnia movies took place in the star wars universe I don't think we'd be thrilled about calling it star wars

I mean, yeah, it obviously contains familiar iconography and references. But I have a feeling this movie's tone is going to be truly different from any of the other SW movies so far. Much grimmer. Let's just say I don't see anyone making nervous "Do you have a boyfriend?" quips to Erso.

Eh. Its still Disney, It's still Star Wars, it's still sci fi adventure. I know you love the director but ultimately its under the Star Wars umbrella. I do think it will be a bit darker than TFA, but the first TFA trailer also was much more intense and darker than the film turned out to be.
