Anybody miss the 2013-tour openers?

Post by mikejasond »

I really loved their slow burn open with pendulum into 1 or 2 MORE opening songs, and then finally speeding things up around the 4th song or so.

This tour they seem to be going right out the gate, but I thought that the 2013 opening led to a very epic feel.

I like the 3 slow song start. I like that collection of songs which rarely appear elsewhere in the sets. Release, Long Road, Of The Girl, CAn't Keep, HTI. I like Pendulum, but they opened with it too often in 2013-2014.

You seem really worried about your upcoming Pearl Jam show, mikejasond.

I am indeed. Hope they rock it, going with a friend who has never seen them one of the nights, and possibly another friend who has never seen them another night.

It seems as though you're infusing the shows with too much meaning, too much expectation. A night out at a Pearl Jam show is (generally) more fun than a night home on the couch no matter what. Try not to think about it too much and just have a good time.

I always try to remember that. It helps cure the ailments of assholes, gaffes or setlist disappointments.

Pearl Jam shows should pretty much always start withe one two punch of a traditional opener and then kick into something harder.

Like Release into Breakerfall or Oceans into Last Exit or Long Road into Brain of J.

It pretty much ran its course. It was fun, but time to get back to randomness.
