Really liked her new single community of hope but a lot of hardcore fans saying this record is terrible. She was always able to walk on water and above criticism. Not on this one it Seems

Was it the stereogum review? I read that today, and his whole point is that it's shortcoming is that Polly wrote this one as a "poverty tourist," that because she didn't get out of the car and interact with people her outlook is somehow disconnected. I suppose he could be right, but the notion that someone has to roll around in mud just to write a song about mud doesn't carry any weight with me.

It's a nice album. I think that the singles are probably the strongest tracks here (I really love the Community of Hope) but other songs might grow on me.
