Re: 2016-04-20:Raleigh, North Carolina
Y'know, I can get behind this decision, but there are tons of people posting about how they just landed on flights. Fans are gonna lose serious cash on travel expenses.
Raleigh's gonna take an economic hit. That'll piss off their representative who voted against this bill, but no one outside of Raleigh's gonna give two shits.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

You know what's funny, these are the orgs they claim they are supporting:

http://www.naacpnc.org
http://www.lgbtcenterofraleigh.com
http://www.qords.org
These are the orgs that specifically ask performers NOT to cancel but rally support instead:
Equality NC: http://equalitync.org
Progress NC Action: http://www.progressncaction.org
NC NAACP: http://www.naacpnc.org
NC ACLU: http://www.acluofnorthcarolina.org

North Star LGBT Community Center of Winston-Salem: http://www.northstarlgbtcc.com
Southerners on New Ground: http://southernersonnewground.org

Notice anything about those two lists?

Why did they wait so long to do it?

Yeah, once I saw these groups issuing statements asking providers to not boycott NC, I figured we were good.b_i_revisited wrote:You know what's funny, these are the orgs they claim they are supporting:

I dont agree with them with this...its a bolder move to play there and make a statement...quitting? whats the point on not playing at all? You want to make a statement? play there, invite people to discuss whats happening, make a very cool setlist, do something.

They should've played a setlist where the first letter in each song spells out "TRANSPEOPLEAREPRETTYGREAT"

The 10c email announcing the cancellation was quite fitting:

Another thing that pisses me off is that if this show hadn't existed from the beginning, I would have been in Greenville.

Gotta agree with you. I don't really see much of a statement being made here. The only thing this does is upset and cost fans a lot of money who have been waiting nearly a decade to see the band in NC. The majority of said fans agree with the views of the band and don't support discriminatory laws. Why not use the opportunity to make a bigger statement and motivate people to get up and do something about it. Sorry guys. Hope they make it up at a later date.

Actually the song placement of this set is very PJ like.

of course pearl jam cancelling a show isn't going to turn the tide on its own, but when enough bands, businesses, etc. boycott the state, it can make a financial impact, which is how you change things in a capitalist country.veddar10 wrote:VinylGuy wrote:I dont agree with them with this...its a bolder move to play there and make a statement...quitting? whats the point on not playing at all?
