Why? What if you lived in NC and had tickets to see Bruce, Boston, and PJ, all of whom have bailed? What if you spent your days fighting the good fight, say you worked for Equality NC or another organization? I don't have a hard time believing that some people feel spurned.LoathedVermin72 wrote: I have a hard time believing most of the fans affected by this law feel "spurned" by the boycotts.

Let's just stop assuming what different types of people might feel about this.

I'm mad at Pearl Jam, but I'm more mad at my General Assembly. Of course, I've been mad at my General Assembly for 2 years.stip wrote:if they really cared they would have vetted each ticket holderkusko_andy wrote:Why? You don't get it at all. The USA is controlled by a radical religious majority (much like countries in the middle east), who are panicking because they are losing privileges that they never deserved, so they are "fighting back" by passing draconian, 1950's style laws designed to oppress minorities and prevent them from voting, participating in government and fighting against discrimination. The nature of American politics is to inflame the ignorant and stupid, which is why Christians believe they are the "most persecuted group" in the country, Obama is the "worst president ever" and Donald Trump will "make the country great again". There has been very little done to prevent the US from sliding further and further into "fascist theocracy" territory. I know that Hitler/Nazi comparisons are old and played out, but it is very much the same kind of thing happening here. In such a climate, the only way to stop these things from happening is to make it hurt the people who support it (or don't care) by hitting them in the only place that matters...their pocketbooks. And the only way to do that is to take your business elsewhere. Donating money to some LGBT group isn't going to do shit to change their minds. It's not rocket science.Birds in Hell wrote:I wager most people are (sensibly) more concerned about issues such as the economy, national security, health and education than trendy causes like same sex marriage and so on.WtOB? wrote:that's because people like spenno keep voting for the old crusty white men and even crustier, older, whiter men coalition.dimejinky99 wrote:Was about to debate that then remembered how backward Australia is on marriage equalityBirds in Hell wrote:This is nonsense.dimejinky99 wrote:Be good if people who have lost out could realise that unless we're all equal, none of us are. You live there B? Just noticing that. My pal Trisch lives in your town. Must visit someday.

The real disaster is the who/whom mistake in the band's statement. I expected better from them.

it's not a majority. It's a well organized minority that bothers to show up to vote.

I'll admit the idea of non-compulsory voting is somewhat alien to me as an Australian but, given that's how your system works, I don't see how that makes the result any less legitimate.stip wrote:it's not a majority. It's a well organized minority that bothers to show up to vote.
