I might be prepared to call "Lovers Know" the M-birds best record. It's been a while since I've played the other two in full, so I'll hold off, but man -- great, great record.

You know, I was feeling like that for a while myself. Then I listened to the first one again and realized I was wrong.

I seriously don't think this band has any songs I dislike -- or rather, not only do they have no songs I dislike, I specifically like every one of their songs in a unique way. The last time I remember feeling like that was with early Decemberists (first two albums plus extras). Just a great, great band.

I think they're all pretty equal. They're a solid band,

Lover's Know is better than Generals. There are songs are Generals that blow a few from LK out of the water. But as an album LK is superior. But Lover's Know isn't there best record. And that's okay. Because like everyone else has already said, this band is unbelievably consistent and I love all of their songs for what they are. I put on each album for different reasons. Every day I want to hear something by the Mynabirds and I can't believe that no matter what comes on, it's what I want to hear. This fucking band... :luv:

Id still rank their albums chronologically, but they're all amazing.
What I like the most is how different these albums are and how each one has its own identity while still being consistent.

I really can't thank you enough for introducing me to the band. And obviously it lead to us meeting. Which was fucking cool as shit. Also, meeting Laura.

I probably have RM to thank for most of the new music I've discovered from 2011 or so till now. I'd grown content to just stick with what I knew, and RM convinced me that that nonsense was for the birds. Tough to narrow it down to a single favorite band.

What are some of the others you'd put toward the top of the list, KD?

From the past few years: Beach House, Laura Marling, William Tyler, Courtney Barnett, El-P, Kendrick Lamar -- all artists I first learned about through their various RM champions. But more than that, RM just got me back into a certain way of listening to music again -- I'd become stupidly jaded, ridiculously dismissive of pretty much everything, up until maybe 4-5 years ago. Glad to be out of that hole :)

Also Sharon Van Etten. Ooh -- and Bill Callahan!

Courtney Barnett was another great RM discovery for me. And st. Vincent too, though I like those other artists more

Yeah St. Vincent is a big one for me, too. I'd kinda forgotten that was an RM discovery. Also, Tom Waits. Though, I'd owned and listened to 2 Waits albums before posting on RM, it was RM that got me to really dive and take notice.

So, I guess The Mynabirds would really be like third on the list.

But still... that's hardly the point. The point is, RM has literally changed my life and exposed me to great things. And The Mynabirds are no small part of that.

Pretty sad not to see Kesha on that list, tbh
