I feel bad for not having kept up with this topic now...

I'm religious. I'm a Muslim. I don't feel offended by the apparently anti-religious sentiment in some of these songs. For me, religion is not the issue. It's people who use it as a tool to justify their actions (or inaction) who are the issue. There are plenty of those in my part of the world. I see these songs as anti-"those people" and not anti-religion. I agree with their sentiment. Don't want to enter into a long debate about religion but this is just my take.

The content of lyrics is rarely a big reason why I like the harder rocking PJ songs though. I just loved Getaway from first listen and MYM grew on me a lot. I think it's very good.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

I just think Eddie sounds AWFUL the lyrics are bad....it sucks live but they ALWAYS play it...I just hate this song lol. They had a talk show appearance over the summer before the global citizen festival and they played this one!! I'd rather they play Lightning Bolt, at least they play it well live....Lightning Bolt is my guilty pleasure.

For as processed as they sound on record they don't really sound all that different live.

I still love this song, and I think the lyrics are generally very strong. This is quite probably the most misunderstood song in their catalog, at least around these parts.

While I'm not crazy about the song on the album, when they played it the other night it really brought some great energy and I had a fun time during it. I could see it turning into a "Comatose" for me where I don't listen to the album version but the live version is fantastic.

The studio version is exactly how Eddie should sound on these kinds of songs

Maybe it's just "Or we could something else" that I hate. What does that even mean???? I know Eddie has a lot of moments in the catalog where one could ask that, but I think this one takes the cake

Im starting to be convinced that Eddie was stumped so just wrote on the sheet "we could will it to the sky or we could [SOMETHING ELSE]" and then forgot to change it.

I've always really loved LB. The studio fade out pisses me the F off though. :shake: :finger: BOB

It's a playful lyric. It's a call to action and engagement as an alternative to standing around doing nothing while the world burns
