Off he goes is beautiful music brought low by painfully self indulgent and ham fisted lyrics.
faithful is just kinda boring. I'm not in love with the riff or the tone, and I don't sense the interplay everyone else goes on about. The lyrics are too on the nose (the sentiment is okay), and the chorus is way too repetitive. I don't think it's a memorable performance by Eddie either. It's not bad. There aren't really any bad songs on yield. It's just okay. It was this or In Hiding but In Hiding has a great pre-chorus.
Unemployable has lyrics that are too judgmental to be empathetic, a Shania Twain moment way worse than anything in LTRP, and I really dislike the sheen on Eddie's voice.
I love
Off He Goes's lyrics, they definitely don't seem ham fisted to me, nearly every line I read seems to just roll right along.
Faithfull could be silence, 30 second bridge, and then silence for the entire song and it'd still be one of the best.
I still don't find much wrong with
Unemployable's lyrics. I definitely feel for the character in the song as I've been there myself, well except for the Jesus ring, those
are pretty stupid.
