Yes, 57 is much too young.
Barack Obama wrote:Today, the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer.

“A strong spirit transcends rules,” Prince once said — and nobody’s spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band, and all who loved him.

The beautiful ones. That song is the one that really made me stand up and take notice. That scream.

Helluva time for the board to shit the bed.

Went for a run today jamming all of Dirty Mind - 30 minutes of minimalist, lo-fi, synth-driven funk. Amazing where he ended up going with his sound.

This. So much.
This is so great. He's definitely playing on a level that transcends the other guys on stage. I love how he walks off-stage by himself without acknowledging the other players too. I can just picture him getting through the curtain to be greeted backstage by a beautiful woman on either side and then stepping out of the building and into a UFO then heading back into space.

I also love that, even while he's blowing everyone away, he still connects with Petty like, "Watch this shit right here."

Can you imagine playing rhythm behind THAT? It's a testament to their professionalism that they all didn't just melt into the floorboards.
