The album version just stinks.

It's not the worst thing on the album but Matt's insipid drum feel doesn't help it(not that there's many other beats that would work). Makes me wish it was a Vedder solo track.
Vedder did play Speed of Sound during his solo show.

it was phenomenal

I think the demo version of Gone is superior to the end product too:

Oh... alright. We're good. Just don't reverse the ending or anything.

I don't not like it, I just don't have the fanboy love for it that most of you do.

Not sure if there are a lot of us that love that song, but i definitely do

And for a song that i do like but it seems most love would be insignificance. its a good song, good live song as well, but not one i love or really need to listen to all that often, though like with i am mine, i did wear it out pretty bad because i got the nais single before the album came out and listened to those 2 songs a ton
people seem to not often feel neutral about FoN.

When I say people I mean Stip. :D I think you said it was a top 5 song for you which boggles my mind since I normally agree with you on all things Pearl Jam. All things Chris Cornell not so much.

I interpreted the thread title to mean "songs that theoretically fall within the scope of your musical interests (you SHOULD like) but, for whatever reason, you don't connect with".

An example of that for me is "All Or None". I couldn't care less about that song.
I interpreted as a little bit of both. Like songs by PJ that everyone except you seem to like (i.e. Yellow Ledbetter for me), but also songs that are musically / thematically similar to what I do like, but for whatever reason I don't like (i.e. Yellow Ledbetter again for me).
