For those that also saw Greenville and/or Hampton, how did Columbia compare?Chris_H_2 wrote:

Lucky. Lost my mind when I finally heard it in Brooklyn. Been waiting years and 37 shows to hear it. and it was worth the wait.
I swear, they opened with Oceans the 8 out of the 10 first PJ I saw. Of course, Ed could actually sing the refrain back then, but . . .
Quit trying to ruin my fun
I would love to hear Oceans again. My point directed at the surprise of Oceans as an opener.
I thought it was a great opener. I know I'm still on a concert high, but the two shows I saw this week were better than any of the 6 I saw between 2009-2013

Well, I thought nothing could top Greenville, but Columbia came pretty damn close. Greenville was a little better because of the crowd, but both sets were high energy and amazing.tyweed wrote:For those that also saw Greenville and/or Hampton, how did Columbia compare?Chris_H_2 wrote:

I wish I'd enjoyed Greenville more. Was unfortunately surrounded by some lame fans and was hoping for a more diverse setlist. I thought Hampton was really good. Sounds like Columbia was awesome. Some nice choice cuts in that setlist.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Well, I thought nothing could top Greenville, but Columbia came pretty damn close. I'm gonna do a review of this one tonight, I wasn't as thrilled with it as many others have been.

Re: 2016-04-21: Columbia, South Carolina
I would call this one an 8/10. The show started off with the one-two of Oceans and Lowlight, and contrary to some, I loved it. As double openers it worked very well. Then into Small Town, which was a great way to get the non-10c people in the crowd into the groove of the show. Animal, MYM, and DTE were all great and everyone in the place seemed really into it. Unfortunately, Lightning Bolt just didn't work that night. To quote a previous review, it felt more like they were just going through the motions vs. the 2014 performances I was at. GTF was solid. Immortality was a great surprise, but was marred by a brief drum solo moment, as was Even Flow. Next up was Light Years and I liked this version quite a bit. Marker, Infallible, and Jeremy were pretty good performances but blended in a bit too much and didn't really do anything to bring back the energy of the start. I Got Shit and RVM were both solid. Rise was cool with what seemed like a longer ending to it. SoH, Footsteps, and ATY brought me right back into it. Corduroy this late in the set didn't work for me and Got Some is in my bottom 5 PJ songs. The Wasted Rep/Life Wasted combo was cool in 2006, but I could do without those now. The rest of the show followed the "An Evening with.." format that hey have been using with the exception of SOLAT, which works great in encores. Stone definitely either changed the set or screwed up when he started Alive. Overall, a good show and I'll definitely listen again when this one is on PJ Radio, but watching Hampton and Greenville clips on youtube gave me the impression those were shows I would have enjoyed more.

Lowlight is great in any setting. Totally undeserved hate in this thread.

You missed a great chance, here, to say "the song ending was the best part about it."wease wrote:I know I was there.
