You got it backwards. I'm tired of other bands coming out of the woodwork covering Prince songs, not the other way around.

It seems crassly opportunistic to me too.

"Listen to Bruce Springsteen's stunning Purple Rain cover!" and so on.

No, I totally understood. I was giving you an alternative that would ease your pain, friend. Flipping the scenario and filling your red heart with purple joy!

Hearing Prince cover anyone will make listening to anyone covering Prince easier. ;)

Maybe. But I don't think the spirit of what the artist is doing is opportunistic. It's genuine tribute, I think. I hope. Maybe the way the media is "covering" it or posting click bait like what you mentioned above. But I think the artists doing the covers right now are coming from a place of sadness, mourning and community.

And in fairness to Bruce, he often starts with a cover, it's kinda his thing. His throwing Purple Rain out there is almost expected, no?

Concerts are about emotion. Seeing a great like Bruce pay his respects to another great like Prince, I'm cool with that.

Exactly. I really love seeing great artists respect other great artists in that way. Especially someone you know had a real impact on their life.

Exactly. It's nice to see people respond publicly. People who know him from the ways he looked, and the different ways he looked, and different things he said. there are a lot of things to remember him by.

Is there really a difference?
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
