Disney confirmed they are moving ahead on several projects, including a Tim Burton remake of Dumbo. The original is barely over an hour so I'm sure there will be plenty of padding and stretching of the story. But the first 20-30 minutes are some of the saddest, most depressing scenes in the Disney catalogue. I wonder if the new version will be as dark? And I'm sure they'll do something about the crows.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

But it will be hard to sell this as a story about a magic elephant whose eccentric mouse friend turns out to be an old war hero who ultimately helps him kill a dragon and save the kingdom....without lots of cgi and derby Depp.

Dumbo the Tim Burton project and Mary Poppins 2. This culture has become truly farcical. I feel like I'm in that Monty Python skit where a bunch of businessmen try to analyze the meaning of life and just end up with "people don't wear enough hats."

"Relive the magic..." angle with too much cgi and too forced a mimic-tic to be either magical or alive, but with a strong actress in the lead so all the talk can be about what a great job she does reviving the role.

Well...his next movie is "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" and while it doesn't have Depp it does have CGI. Though it's something like X-Men 1943 so I guess that's to be expected.

Outside of the bizarre random racism, Mary Poppins is simply splendid; practically perfect in every way.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a writer/performer best know for his multiple Tony Awards, Two Pulitzer Prizes, and his MacArthur Genius Fellowship. He wrote and stared in the Broadway production of 'In the Heights' and is currently redefining musical theater in 'Hamilton,' a show that is the single greatest artistic achievement since Kushner's 'Angels in America.'

He's a real genius, artist and humanitarian who has changed the world of musical theater forever (for the better). I have zero interest in a Mary Poppins sequel/reboot.... unless he's involved. Then, I'm all in.

Probably but they earned some good will with Jungle Book.
