My favorite part of "Puzzles and Games" is the title.

Word. I have no idea what excites people about "Puzzles and Games."
Great chorus and mysterious verses that glide right past you. Plus the awesome bridge that light years stole

Stop trying to take away Chud's joy in lording it over PJ n00bs that he knows more about PJ than they do.

The guys from Collective Soul have aged phenomenally well.

I wasn't lording over anyone. I prefer Light Years myself, but if someone who might not have heard P&G complains about Light Years it's only natural to suggest P&G to them.

Ive heard some live versions and I have to say, I LOVE the way they do the intro, with the bouncy guitars and the slightly different melody. I think it's way more interesting than the album version which sounds like the rest of the song, but then soon live it transitions into the verse and I just don't like where the chords go....something just gets ruined. I think there's a flatness in this song and the chords they use, and I would love to hear a full song with the same feel as the live intro.

Its a weird song because I like like half of it and then other parts drag it down. I think I like the melody of the verse but not the guitar work under it and all the times they hit the same note/chord over and over again. I love the beginning of the chorus but by the chord change on "Wherever we may go" I feel like the song lost its energy.

Then after the second chorus Im like ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

But there's just a few glimpses in here that I really like.

The same thing that excites people about the different versions of Force of Nature. The real possibilities.
Different versions of Force Of Nature?

I think the only thing Im not a fan of this song is Ed's delivery, he sounds tired or annoyed. But the guitar work is absolutely beautyful.

I see how the off-kilter presentation of Light Years is supposed to mimic the headspace of the singer, but the overall affect robs the song of its beauty and power. It's a bit too clever by half. You get a more honest presentation live.

Plus Eddie is dialing the affectation up a few too many notches in the studio version

Light Years studio is fantastic. Even in 2000, they rush it a little too much. They sacrifice fragility for velocity, and while it's still a great listen on those '00 boots, I tend to come back to the studio version. And maybe this is just me, but Light Years has never struck me as a 'complex' or 'weird' song. It's got one unconventional chord in the verse and there's a slight pause heading into the chorus, but it's still fairly accessible, even by this band's standards.

I used to really not care for this one. Then I listened to it from one of the Seattle shows in '00. That version transformed the song for me. Moved it up to a 3-star tune. Then I actually learned the lyrics and what he's singing about. 5-star baby! One of the best songs in the catalogue. One of the 5 tunes I've not seen live that I really, really hope to get before this whole thing ends.
