I think that happened in a game last year too? I could be mistaken, since I watch WAY too much baseball with MLB.TV but im pretty sure there was a game that ended that way last year. And I think, if the runner didnt get hit in that game, the batting team would have tied the game on the hit?

The Jays have lost games this year that ended on a walk-off passed ball, an overturned review of the new double play rule, and a runner hit by a ball.

Went to the Brewers Marlins game last night. What a strange odd game that was. Brewers turn a triple play, Mattingly pulling a kid out of a no hitter with 2 outs in the 8th, with the only Brewer to ever throw a no hitter sitting in the Marlins dugout (Juan Nievas is their pitching coach) to a chorus of boooooos. No hitter broken up on a bloop single that Dee Gordan probably catches. Then the Brewers decide to rally and nearly tie the game.

It was like for 7+ Innings the Brewers hitters barely looked like they even wanted to be there.
Then for the last 2 innings the Marlins pitchers were doing everything they could to let them back in it

cool part, was I had tickets in the 2nd row down the right field corner. Totally expecting to see Stanton. Instead got to watch Ichiro, go 2-4, move into 33rd on the all time hits list, and, get his 500 stolen base.

All I'm saying, is Dee seems like a pretty stand up guy. Hell he goes out of his way to thank reporters for interviewing him. Hes the type of guy ya want to route for, and ya hope is clean. Yeah, I get it, he got busted because he did it. Just saying I'd much rather the Ryan Brauns of the cheating world get busted. Cause yeah, theres still A LOT of cheaters, in MLB and NFL.

When the guy across the diamond from you cheats, and gets 10 million more a year to do it, yeah, keep telling yourself you wouldnt look for an advantage. And when the kid at AAA is knocking on the door to take your position, and hes cheating, keep telling yourself you wouldnt look for an advantage to stay in the big show another season.

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for more testing / getting the roids out of the game, but until they start taking the money away from players, AND, penalizing the teams, PEDs are staying in the game.

Nah, Ive just totally changed my view on the guys using.
Hank Aarons the all time greatest (IMO) and there was no one I disliked more than Bonds for a long time.

Robin Yount was in the booth during a Brewer game a few years a back and they were talking about the whole PED/roids issue, and it really changed my view. Yount, said he really doesnt know how he would have handled it, and if offered may have even done something, if it gave him a chance to play another year or two. He was the last person I expected to come out and say that and it really made me rethink the whole point of view.

Its not a simple cut and dry cheating problem, its much much deeper than that.

I'm not advocating using steroids, but I definitely sympathize with why certain players would try to. If I were a guy that was on the margins of minors/majors, I would absolutely use steroids if it meant the difference between washing out as a Crash Davis type and being a major league veteran making millions.

i agree. professional athletics are insanely competitive and cutthroat, so i get why players will look for any advantage they can find.

i'm actually quite forgiving of guys like bonds, mcgwire, and sosa who were using before steroids were banned. why wouldn't you? current guys like braun, it's a little tougher to forgive, but i also believe they aren't always totally aware of what their trainers are pumping into them. it's my understanding that PEDs are always evolving - what's legal, what's not - so it might be easier than we think to convince a ballplayer to try something.

my BIL is a black and white steroids guy, and we have this debate all the time. he hates bonds, and even though he's a diehard cubs fan, he's still pretty upset with sosa too. and, of course, he thinks my views are based on being a braun apologist, so we never get anywhere.

I don't really care about steroids the way we used to. I don't hold it against the guys who did it during the era anymore, and I totally understand the temptation.

I just don't feel bad for the guys who get caught, and I don't believe for one second anyone who says "I have no idea how this got inside of me!".

LOL! that would be funny.
That is my biggest problem with Braun, not that he took the roids, but that he threw so many people under the bus, and left so many people go out and defend him (Lucroy, Rogers, Tulo were 3 of his biggest supporters AFTER the first rumors of him having a postive test)

The pitching in this Brewers Marlins series, has been all sorts of bad from both teams, with the exception of Conley Friday night. But even he wasnt pitching great. Sure he had a no hitter going but that had more to do with the Brewers starting 3 players with sub .200 batting averages (not including the pitcher)
