With all the marketing behind it, I doubt WWZ will flat-out bomb. It'll be battling MOS for the No. 2 spot.
the zombies just look sooooo bad.
Yeah and the shooting was a disaster...im expecting a John Carter type of failure.

The dark and gritty tone is cool, but a little too much for my taste for this character.
Please... that scientist and the military scenes..my god, what a lousy script...even that scene with Perry and that girl trapped in the building...who cares about her! i only saw her two times, show me superman fighting, show me Martha Kent or Louis...too many useless characters around.
I felt the actions scenes were poorly handled, the dialogue was mostly rubbish, the main villain killed a lot of people and yet in the final scene our hero is wondering about maybe finishing him or not...and that ending?? everyone smiling?
Louis knows the secret already? thats it??

i wasnt expecting more of this movie, so i cant say its a letdown but give more intelligent ones like Iron Man 3.
Lois. I'm amazed at the number of people (not pointing you out, just in general on the Internet) call her 'Louis'. Louis C.K. she is not, ok? Louis is a boys name, and she has 50+ years of being called 'Lois' that makes it seem a rather silly mistake.

I don't know what is more of a bummer for me: that when Dark Knight got hyped for being "gritty" and dark and did so well, the rest of hollywood just read that as "more destructive and violent,"...or that apparently Goyer did, too.

It was funny to see that most of what lessened the film did not appear (pressumably) to have sourced from Snyder, but from the script.

I just watched the movie again and I reckon Snyder is as much to blame for the film's shortcomings as Goyer-- a lot of movies with lousy shooting scripts are elevated by the decisions made in the direction, to accentuate the story's strengths and charge the narrative with pathos. Snyder's approach was tepid and soulless, and the second half of this movie was an exercise in poor storytelling. At this point, my opinion of Zack Snyder is that he's a good visual stylist with a weak grasp on what makes a story resonate, which I imagine is the reason why the overwhelming response to this movie seems to be "eh, it was okay."

I dont really know how much of the final cut really belongs to Snyder. Im guessing Nolan is someone to blame for too.
And of course Goyer, his dialogue is pure shit most of the time.
Although i agree with the notion of Snyder being a good visual stylist who really dont know how to tell a story, specially for some of his previous movies.

But i was surprised on how bad the material was, some scenes were Michael Bay bad...and im sure we will have a good laugh with the guy who plays superman trying to "act" like clark kent in the next movie.

Not to derail this thread, but I've got superman 1 on blu ray, and was thinking of picking up the donner cut of #2 today, but was wondering if there was any need to get the regular version of #2 or is the donner version all i should get? I've never seen the donner version so im wanting it anyway, just don't know if i should try to get both

In my opinion, the Donner Cut is significantly better. I wouldn't bother with the original.

Is there even a way to get the OG II on BRD? I found this but that's a lot of movies.

And on blu-ray.com they have this listing for it:
Superman II Blu-ray
Warner Bros. | 1980 | 123 min | Rated PG | No Release Date

Wasn't much of a battle. WWZ outperformed expectations and killed MOS.

The Donner Cut is so, SO much better. You won't regret it. And you'll quickly forget there was ever a different version.
