Why are you so obsessed with heteronormative manliness all of a sudden? You seem confused and insecure.

I'm watching "Battlefield: Los Angeles" right now. How's that for "non-gay"?
so, how did it end up being?

Yeah, for sure.

But in BEMH I feel like the only reason people laughed or even tolerated her character was the simple fact that Maggie Smith was playing it. Not because her acting ability elevated the character. More like it's okay to be racists and hateful if you're Maggie Smith!

Kinda like how people will automatically laugh when Betty White swears. Just because it's Betty White.

Very minor spoilers:
Spoiler: show
So... I liked the mocking take on the whole 'torture porn' fad of a few years ago. I liked the overall story concept of human sacrifice being used in modern times by national governments to appease 'ancient ones'. I like the idea that those who run it are so jaded that they joke and gamble on it and barely take it seriously. I even like the suggestion that the ancient ones that "need to be appeased or they will rise up and destroy the earth" are the standard audience for torture porn movies whose viewing of 'the director's' violent entertainment deters them from committing violence themselves. Like some people think porn deters rape ( :shake: ). Plus I like Whedon's Firefly and Buffy, so I had really high hopes for this but it just sorta fell apart in the end when it turned into an actual horror film. While Boyle's "Sunshine" was able to overcome the sudden change in genres, just barely, Cabin didn't survive it for me. I guess maybe the issue at least partially was that it was completely predictable after the first 15 minutes. Just the use of the term "ancient ones" implies Lovecraft, as I assume was intentional, so a Lovecraft type ending was obviously coming. No need for some crazy twist ending, but don't telegraph the ending so early.

Watched 'Pitch Perfect' on HBO. Exactly as expected, but not that's not a bad thing. Several funny moments and Rat-Girl is getting cuter with age. Your wife will like this movie.
