I think it was definitely anti-climactic, but that has as much to do with the fact that there have been set photos with Harrington floating around for almost a year as it does with the story or how it was executed. But since his resurrection was a foregone conclusion (something that will probably be much more drawn out, dramatic, and complicated in future books), I'll be waiting to judge Jon's second life by what will happen after. It sure seems like there's an obvious way to go: Jon takes a bit to gain back trust of The Watch and the Widlings, Sansa arrives, Jon leads an army to take back Winterfell, he succeeds. I'd much rather them throw a curveball in there somewhere, something not so telegraphed, but we'll see.

Then why make it happen in the first place? Why even kill someone if they are just going to come back to life two episodes later? Now anytime someone dies, we'll just think 'why doesn't the red lady just cast a spell?' And if someone dies, but Jon or Davos doesn't say 'hey red lady, cast that spell,' we'll think "wow Jon and Davos didn't actually like that guy." I do not see the point.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Last week everyone complained that they were going to drag the Jon Snow thing out, this week everyone complains that they didnt drag it out enough.

I was satisfied with the resurrection. It fit where the story is: Melisandre is in a funk of self doubt. So the dramatic rebirth by fire wouldn't jive because Melisandre's heart just isn't into it. Plus, it was set up in season three when Arya ran into that guy (R-something) when the guy basically says what needs to occur, and Melisandre seeks out another priest to learn the skill.

The catch though is because of this, Jon isn't the same Jon, so what did he lose? A skill, an ability, a set of emotions (insert emo joke here)? Does he forgive Olly and crew? How and will he accept Sansa when they reunite?

For me, lots of interesting bits... how long will it take Theon to get to the Iron Islands, and will he be accepted? Euron? Who's going to eventually give Ramsay his due? Sansa, Theon, or Jon? And hopefully Bran's story gets more life than just flashbacks.

It was just a lot of hype and nonsense for what amounted to a lot of nothing. It would have been way better if they had actually kept it under wraps, or held off on the reveal for much longer, like another season. As it stands, it makes his death and everything that came after feel like useless filler all in the name of pumping up the Jon Snow myth.

These days, it's impossible to keep it underwraps unless you're Beyonce dropping an album. Plus, from a story perspective, Ser Davos had an immediate need. Why not give the witch a shot? Also, the aspect of time and all the events that do occur. Could they do a whole season with a dead character who's instrumental to Castle Black, Winterfell, King of the North, Ramsay, and possibly the entire kingdom. I bet the book will drag it out or flesh it out more, but the show has to be efficient on its storytelling.

Part of me was curious if we'd even see the resurrection last night. The way they lingered I thought the episode was ending with Jon motionless on the table.
