man, i really grew to dislike man on the moon over the years. i really liked the album version, but stipe's incessant yelling while singing it live really ruined it for me. now that's all i hear when i listen to it.

same exact feeling here. never was a fan of the transition away from iteotwawki to man on the moon as show closer, either. i was fine with dropping 'world', but would rather have had a number of other songs as the closer than 'moon'.

around the time around the sun came out. i remember the 2003 show i saw had 'world' as the finale and then in 04 and later it was 'moon'. 'world' hardly got any play after that.

looking at setlist.fm it seems dj was just for those dublin shows. in 04-05 it went dj>moon, to end. in 08 dj was midset with moon closing.

also, i didn't realize this until looking at sets just now, but iteotwawki did pop back up in 08 and was usually the penultimate song (with moon to close) or the main set closer.

I've never listened to live REM consistently enough to have MOTM permanently ruined by Stipe's idiotic yelling. Although I hated hearing it every time I have.
