I'm skipping around some of his '90s stuff and it seems considerably less interesting.

Compared to Harvest or On the Beach, Mirror Ball has some real dumbfuck production.

I like the big-lumbering-oaf version of Crazy Horse, which was effectively approximated by PJ on "Mirrorball." You're right that the '90's albums are inferior to his '70's work (just about everything is), but if they don't grab you now I'd revisit them on a day when you haven't just been bombarded by a steady stream of some of his best stuff. They all have unique charms and virtues that might not shine through as clear when your only frame of reference is a side by side comparison with his masterpieces.

"See the Sky About the Rain" - again, in a very subtle way - sounds totally unhinged and strung out to me. It's a bizarre song. There's a sad, understated desperation bubbling beneath this album.

PJ is Crazy Horse by numbers on that one, but it works.
IM THE OCEAN!
What are we thinking of this new one? 28 min Love and Only Love, anyone?

I really should have gotten into Young sooner. This is perfect road trip music. So much wasted drive time.
