I've been rewatching the captain america movies in preparation for Civil War, and Age of Ultron improves with each rewatch. There's so many subtle arcs for the characters in that movie, new stuff you pick up on each time.

Pre-civil war rankings (probably)

Winter Solider
Avengers
Age of Ultron
Iron Man
Captain America
Guardians of the Galaxy
Iron Man 3
Thor 2
Ant Man
Iron Man 2
Thor 1
Hulk

I really love Winter Soldier. I also really liked Ant Man, so that probably renders my opinion invalid.

Heh my list is all the ones with Capt America (including Thor 2) on top of the non-Cap ones. Except maybe Iron Man if I'm feeling generous.

Yes, easily. Hulk and Iron Man (and a few scenes of Thor) are the only Marvel movies worth watching.

Didn't care for the Hulk movies. Hulk's only been good in the Avengers movies. Usually he's the best part of those films, at least for me. The second Thor movie was pretty bad and all the Iron Man films besides the first one have been average at best. But this is all just my limited opinion.

Marvel really needs to work on developing Villains. I mean they haven't been doomsday bad but put some effort into it.

Iron Man
The Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Iron Man 2
Thor: The Dark World
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 3

I liked it for what it was...but to put it over something like IM? Do you not remember the radioactive poodles?

Hulk is the only time Marvel ever took a chance on a real artist making a real work of art. I think it's beautiful. The action sequences reach a level of lyricism that's pretty unparalleled.

I have no problems with the poodles.

I think Ironman 3 is probably the film (certainly within the MCU) where the filmmaker's unique style is most readily on display.

The villains are obviously the weak spot (I like Loki, Winter Solider, Red Skull, and Ultron, but that's really it) but where marvel has been smart thus far is keeping the focus on the hero and his own internal battles and conflicts, so there's not really much of a need for a villain other than as a plot device. With the exception of Red Skull, the stronger Marvel villains are the ones that have some sort of familial connection to the hero, and so the villain is folded into the hero's story in a meaningful way.

Look, I like Shane Black and all, but IM3 is hardly the personal work of art Hulk is.
