I do enjoy the attempts that Ang Lee did to make it look like a comic book movie, i.e. the frames setup like frames on the page.

i think he meant Incredible Hulk, which is rather bland but not that terrible Ang Lee one.

I watched it recently and it's somehow worse than I remember. What a disaster.

Nope, he put The Incredible Hulk over IM3.

Yeah, I definitely meant the Ang Lee one. Leterrier's is mediocre.

I thought the comic panels were kinda corny, but not a dealbreaker or anything.

I liked Ang Lee's Hulk well enough. Betty and General Ross were perfectly cast. Bana was OK. I liked the comic panels. The two villains we just so over the top it kinda ruined it. CGI wasn't ready for prime time at that point.

Saw this tonight. It was really enjoyable. Lot of people saying its their favourite comic book movie ever. Balls to that. It's good. It's not the best. It needed to be overwrought in terms of the stakes but for all the seemingly endless exposition it did a terrible job of really explaining even simple things non hardcore fans would need pointing to or given cues on.

The spidey section was my favourite and sounded like the audience I was in thought so too. I have hope for that reboot now and that's cool. Tons of humour on the right places and right amount and was left wondering which side was right.
Spoiler: show
really think they got it wrong with Cap going rogue and tony playing by the rules. That just seems totally opposite of how they have built and established those characters thus far.
That was the biggest hole in it for me. Was a worthwhile watch but the first avengers film was far better.

marvel certainly didn't do it as well as they did it in the comics but that's to be expected. There have been some subtle moments in the films in which cap has questioned the government and stark butted heads with him over it but it's a bit of leap to take it this far. Cap's always going to be the classic stars and stripes hero though who stands for freedom and liberty and he is someone who will not trust the government. iron man is always going to be the rich ass siding with the government for more regulations and control over people. The original cross over was a kind of response to the patriot act. So maybe the film wanted to distance itself from that in some way. Who knows.

Yeah, it has become more and more difficult to be motivated to see these in theatres.
