all i'm saying/thinking is we might not be getting the performances we're witnessing if these guys had already played 34 more games. i'm thinking mostly of tuukka, chara, and bergeron.Self wrote:Yeah? Wonder what happened to Bergeron? Supposedly, he left and went to the hospital....

After seeing Seguin still stuck on the 3rd line tonight, I'm starting to think the B's might try to trade him and keep Horton...

you mean b/c he didn't center marchand & jagr? i think seguin has proven that he's not a centerman.MattA75 wrote:After seeing Seguin still stuck on the 3rd line tonight, I'm starting to think the B's might try to trade him and keep Horton...
i'm worried about bergeron, total game changer. yes, toews missed the last period, but the bawks already had their lead.

so they throw a guy with what, 5 or 6 NHL games who hasn't played in 2 months in that spot instead? Seguin can be a centerman, the problem is is he's not their kind of centerman (or more specifically, Clood's type)...not that that gives him an out for the way he floats, but man, KP Dupont brought up Alexandre Daigle on twitter the other night and there are a lot of similaritieselliseamos wrote:you mean b/c he didn't center marchand & jagr? i think seguin has proven that he's not a centerman.MattA75 wrote:After seeing Seguin still stuck on the 3rd line tonight, I'm starting to think the B's might try to trade him and keep Horton...

i don't know about that, i looked it up and daigle topped out at 50 points and in two trips to playoffs managed 2 points. seguin had 60+ points a year ago and 30+ this year in half a season. not to mention his playoff production, as light as it's seemed, has been much better than A.D.MattA75 wrote:so they throw a guy with what, 5 or 6 NHL games who hasn't played in 2 months in that spot instead? Glad for the win, but the game seemed a bit of a let down with only 60 mins of hockey

Re: NHL Thread
not really...both were high 'can't miss' draft prospects...Seguin, like Daigle, seems to have real drive and competitiveness questions (i.e. he does a lot of floating on the ice and takes a lot of nights off)...and unlike Daigle, Seguin has been on a good team, meaning he's been able to take 2-3 years to improve his game (which is questionable at best whether he's done so) and not be "the guy" or anything close to it...and like Daigle, Seguin's now been paid a big contract based on potential more than what he's actually done so farelliseamos wrote:i don't know about that, i looked it up and daigle topped out at 50 points and in two trips to playoffs managed 2 points. seguin had 60+ points a year ago and 30+ this year in half a season. not to mention his playoff production, as light as it's seemed, has been much better than A.D.MattA75 wrote:so they throw a guy with what, 5 or 6 NHL games who hasn't played in 2 months in that spot instead? I don't think it's that far off... Daigle's had 51 points as a rookie, and he improved in his second season to a pace that would have been almost identical to Seguin's second year but was shortened by the lockout. Take a look at the players Daigle played with in his first few years with the Sens, too. It's kind of hilarious.elliseamos wrote:i don't know about that, i looked it up and daigle topped out at 50 points and in two trips to playoffs managed 2 points. seguin had 60+ points a year ago and 30+ this year in half a season. not to mention his playoff production, as light as it's seemed, has been much better than A.D.MattA75 wrote:so they throw a guy with what, 5 or 6 NHL games who hasn't played in 2 months in that spot instead? I don't agree with the comparison because I expect Seguin to continue to improve, and I see his last year or so as more of a bump in the road than anything. But if you look at their first three seasons in the league, I think there are a definitely some legitimate comparisons.

Re: NHL Thread
I don't want to be accused of saying Seguin will be the next Stamkos, but I don't think you can say he's Daigle. Again, AD had 2 points in 12 career playoff games. Seguin had more than that in both games and points in his rookie year. Also, b/c it seems crazy in the 2-line Offside Era: Daigle's first 4 seasons he had a +/- of -45, -22, -30, -33 and never had a positive +/- over his career.philpritchard wrote:I don't think it's that far off... Re: NHL Thread
I think Seguin is more comparable to Kessel than Daigle. Seguin has more points in his first couple seasons, but they're both almost the same player and both seem to have/had maturity issues.
