I think is a pretty good description of the album. As much as I like ambient/cinematic soundscapes, it just doesn't have much room in my life and one soundscape recording doesn't hold much more emotional appeal over another well done one.
I get it, this is who and what Radiohead are now. But really, this is music for middle aged people by middle aged people. Done extremely well it won't be part of (by design) many peoples soundtrack of the summer of 2016. Critically acclaimed but listened to by fewer and fewer people.

Yeah, to be honest, this does not sound even remotely appealing to me. I really have no patience for ambient music anymore.

Yeah, I hear a lot of references to OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows in particular.
The intro to Daydreaming reminds me of Kid A, with the song as a whole bringing in some In Rainbows influences (especially disc 2).
Decks Dark immediately made me think of OK Computer. Ful Sop is this album's National Anthem, kind of.
Present Tense feels like an In Rainbows song as well, maybe it's just the arpeggio patterns.

None of this is a bad thing, of course. Those 3 albums are the RH classics. Not bad company to be in.

I couldn't care less how many people listen to it. I love it and I think it might be their best album. If other people don't get that and would rather listen to Drake or some other bullshit that's on them.

I haven't found anything but maybe my Google-Fu is weak today: Are there any plans for HD releases of their albums? Blu-Ray, HDTracks, Pono, whatever I just want to hear it. I fully understand that whatever differences I hear are more than likely placebos.

You got this point in before me.

They took the weird filters (or whatever it might actually be) that were used on a lot of the vocals from King of Limbs and used them to much greater effect on this. Also similar to some of the vox on Kid A.

I got to see Identikit live at the Seattle show in 2012. Wasn't really loving the song then, but I'm very pleasantly surprised with how the studio version turned out. The videos I saw of Ful Stop live in 2012 were all fucking killer. The studio version of that obviously turned out incredibly well.

I don't think the sound of this record is as flawless as some of you guys think. It sounds really good, but at some points the vocals and some of the bassier keys are just starting to push into distortion. I wish those sounds were scaled back just a bit for clarity sake.

Was really hoping you'd confirm some of what I was hearing. The bottom end is all crowded up, and if they're mixing on a Neve or similar, it's gonna give you that muddy distortion we're hearing.

Yeah it was really noticeable in my car. When I got home I just put it on again with the gain decreased on my player and listening with the Sennheisser 598s and it's better in this environment.

I agree with most of the points about the sound qualities, although it never takes me out of any of the songs so I'm mostly ok with it. Can't wait to hear how the mastering of this is for the vinyl, maybe some of that stuff will be cleaner. They have a pretty good track record of albums sounding better in that format. September can't come fast enough.
