Re: The Work-Out Thread
i am batteling sinus infection/cold/flu who knows....trying to get up the energy to take advantage of the 40 degree weather with a run outside. I feel like shit though.
I am starting to worry about being fully prepared for the mud run in April.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
202.8 lbs this morning afte reating like a horse last night. Goal is to get below 190 by my first event of the year April 21st. Pretty do able. Aiming for a sub 42min 10k than, that's iffier.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Only got in 7 today. Hoping for 10-12 tomorrow. But I'm using this week as a kind of recovery week. So I'm not too worried about pounding the miles.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I would start with a 2 miles or whatever you feel comfortable with, could be plenty more, and run a certain amount of days a week. Never increase your duration during the week. The following week you increase your workload slightly.....and so on...surface the north wrote:So I haven't really run in about a year, but shortly before I stopped I was capable of finishing a half marathon. What's the best approach to starting again? Also, what would be the smartest running accessory that one with a $20 gift card to Luke's Locker could buy?
If you go at it too hard, too fast after so much time off you could risk stress fracture or other injury.

today was the first day i can recall i willingly skipped a workout. i still went and did 30 minutes of cardio but i have been battling the sniffles and came home from work and slept for two hours.

A bandanna just gets soaking wet and gross feeling. Don't sleep on the headband.surface the north wrote:I own plenty of shirts like that, and shorts. And socks. And I can make a headband out of a bandanna. But I have this $20 gift card and I don't want it to just go to waste. I just got a new pair of shoes, so putting it towards something like that won't do either.

Are you refering to the 50 or 75 mile sunrise run? I dated a girl who did that, I told her there was no way we could travel/vacation together.turned2black wrote:Guys, a long run in the Grand Canyon is a life-changing experience... RM running meet-up for the ages.

Nah, just run down the South Kaibab trail... grab some beer at Phantom Ranch... hang out by the Colorado River... then hike out.

That I could do and probably feel spectacular for the experience.turned2black wrote:Nah, just run down the South Kaibab trail... grab some beer at Phantom Ranch... hang out by the Colorado River... then hike out.
Today's bike commute was ruled out by my bike lock being frozen. Trust me, I wouldn't get that bored of hot and sunny for my commute. Last night's ride home was in 35 degree weather. Only nice thing about that is I'm the only one in shorts.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Also, managed a 12 miler today. Felt pretty good considering how hungover I was from last night's festivities.

I shredded some gnarly bumps in 10 degree weather and blowing snow. ONly covered 13,000 vertical feet but am now enjoying a frothy beverage whilst listening to some new vinyl
