Re: The Drones
Right now I'm thinking:
1. I See Seaweed
2. Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By
3. Havilah
4. Here Come the Lies
5. Feelin Kinda Free
6. The Miller's Daughter
7. Gala Mill
I still need more time with FKF to be sure, but as interesting a progression as it is for them, I'm not convinced it hangs with their best material.

Re: The Drones
Interesting list. I don't think I've ever seen a Drones ranking list before!

Re: The Drones
A few thoughts after further listens:
-"Private Execution", "Taman Shud", "Then They Came for Me", "To Think That I Once Loved You", and "Boredom" are all excellent songs, with wonderful layers and subtleties that reveal themselves the more I listen.
-"Tailwind" and "Sometimes", on the other hand, seem very dull, plodding, and uneventful, and they hurt the album rather significantly for me.
-Liddiard's lyrics, as always, are stellar.
-I really want to do a hip-hop cover of "Boredom".

Holy shit, the closing lines of "Boredom":
I was born in the cradle of civilization
and I plan on dying in its tomb

Re: The Drones
I've always been pretty cold on these guys but I took the plunge on the new album last night and it's hitting me like a ton of bricks.
What an incredible record.

Re: The Drones
I really need to walk back the enthusiasm I expressed above.
There's something about this band I've always struggled with on a holistic, aesthetic level and I don't think I'm going to be able to move past it.

First song from Gareth and Fiona's new side project, Tropical Fuck Storm. I think I love it. Sounds pretty damn Dronesy.

I think I tried this band once and wasn't feeling it.
A while ago I started listening to Tropical Fuck Storm, and I love that shit.
And so now, I think now, I'm about to fall in love with The Drones.
