So this is all from 1998?

The intro to Corduroy is played better nowadays. I respect them for not rushing it, but it feels stiff. Is this Eddie playing it?

Weird quality to Eddie's voice. From my perspective, 1992, 2000, and 2006 are the best Eddie's Ive heard.

I don't think I've ever heard a live Corduroy even come close to comparing to the studio.

Cool drum roll after the first chorus. But I just cannot hear this song with anybody but Dave A I think.

Man he really changed that "I" to "We" in the second chorus early. The original line is more powerful.

Matt has a stiffness in the bridge that makes me miss Dave so much.

Man, I hate when Eddie brings the middle section down instead of yelling it in the original melody. At least there's no YEAH YEAH call and response.

Like Eddie's growl in the final vocal section.

There's just kind of a hollowness to this I don't like...also the guitar's just seem slightly out of tune to me. I don't know. I don't like this Corduroy too much. But I rarely do. Its one song that live just loses something. I actually think this is one song they might play a little better nowadays besides Eddie himself.

Another song that is rarely good live. I hate this jangly guitar tone but I'm happy about the tempo. I don't like the drum sound (seems kind of hollow or tinny or something I don't know the word...not full enough) but I think Matt is doing a better job.

Oooh I like the bounce and the guitars when Eddie goes up the octave.

This is the first time I've ever really heard this song played well live lol.

I dunno what's up with Eddie's voice though, could just be the era. I prefer clearer Eddie.

Wow Eddie is sounding great on this second...I dunno what this section is called. The second time he goes up the octave before the chorus.

That was one of the best live performances of this song I've heard I will say. I just don't like the actual sounds of the instruments very much. It makes the sound not as full as it could be.

WTF at Matt's Hail Hail drumming. Awful. So stiff!!

Otherwise sounds great. I like this frantic Eddie vocal.

Matt like...killed that song. And not in a good way. He completely changed the feel for the worse. Especially the chorus. But the rest was very good, Eddie was great.

To be fair, Matt learned about 100 songs just before hitting the road with them. What he lacked in familiarity with the material, I think he more than made up for in energy at the time. I agree he's stiff on some of them, but it took a while for them to figure out he would fit into their music. Not saying I prefer the direction they've taken with Matt, but I wouldn't fault him for playing a little straight-forward during his first outings with the band.

I definitely hate the direction they went with Matt. I can tell he's trying harder on this tour, but that Hail Hail was especially awful. It just completely killed the vibe of the song.

Daughter! Is this one concert or just seamlessly edited together?

Hate the Daughter tone. I often do. This song, NAIS, Elderly Woman...sometimes I just hate the guitar tone they do, its so jarring.

This is good.

Again I think there's a hollow/not-full sound to the band because of the specific instruments they are using, but this is being played well. Matt is doing a good job on this one.

at the ending jam before the shades go down. Sounded great.

Rockin in the Free World tag for Daughter works surprisingly well. I feel like I might have heard this version on Pandora before.

The end of Daughter is kind of nice for when you're on the treadmill.

WMA tag also works surprisingly awesomely. That one might be my favorite because I wouldn't want to hear a full live version of WMA probably, but it works great as a little interlude into Daughter.

Ive definitely heard this Elderly Woman version on Pandora

It's a good one.

Still hate that guitar tone, and the fact that it sounds ever so slightly out of tune.

I think this isn't the best Eddie, Ive heard him better. Sometimes he gives me chills. Not so much this time. But I do miss when Eddie could sing. Ive heard some Elderly Woman's live that really really got me, this one is just good. But still so much better than now.

Mike, you should really try listening to 3/5/98 to get the best Pearl Jam from this era.
