they've got plenty to choose from as either UFA or thru a trade:

T. Thomas (UFA)
R. Luongo
E. Nabokov (UFA)
B. Elliot
J. Halak
R. Miller
J. Hiller
M. Smith (UFA)
R. Emery (UFA)
J. Theodore (UFA)

and don't forget about T. Rask and J. Bernier as RFA.

should be a fun offseason.

Forgot Khudobin, who I wouldn't be surprised if the Islanders sign to replace Nabby, if the Bruins don't resign him.

I'd be shocked if a team handed him the opportunity to be #1 after only one season (and a shortened one at that) of being the #2 man.

I just checked capgeek, and I want the Bs to replace horton with bickell after they spend all their cap space on tuukka.

Both teams had a lot of injuries and Chicago was better able to rise to the occassion. It was great hockey to watch and hopefully there'll be a rematch somewhere down the road.

All that said, totally not surprised to see Boychuck looking lost on the winning goal. I so wish Bruins would get rid of him. Trade him to Vancouver for Bieksa. Bieksa would make a great Bruin and Boychuck would help Vancouver's powerplay.
If Boychuck went to Vanc, he'd be even more hated after the hit on Toews.
problem with that trade is that the Bruins are already going to shuffle some things to bring back Tuukka and possibly Horton...Bieksa's contract is a stupid stupid contract (4.75 or 5 mill)...I'd love that trade as a Vancouver fan, Bieksa's best days are long gone, and I like Boychuk's all around game, and Vancouver would save some cap space...he'd be great with Hamhuis...but it's never gonna happen

I think he's probably like their 4th-5th option, but he'd be a classic Snow signing; guy who had success in AHL but never given a shot in the NHL. I think it'd be a huge risk, but they may not have any other option if they can't sign Nabby, Smith or any of the other UFAs.

I dont want the B's to re-sign Horton if it's too cap constricting. As much as everyone hates Peverley and Kelly right now, I dont want the Bruins to relinquish their best strength as a team(their depth) to keep Horton. If they can find a player in a comparable situation to Horton 3 years ago I'd much rather have that. Everyone who plays with Krejci looks great, go back and look what he did to Blake Wheeler when they played together.

right, i'd like to see soderberg stick on the NHL roster. so assuming rask gets the big contract, they'd have to go filler the rest of the way (short of a buyout/trade). I'm expecting daugavins to be let go, caron's contract should be more friendly b/c he's restricted, and then a guy like pandolfo (not him exactly, but in his situation) would fill out the roster.

lucic-krecji-soderberg
marchand-bergeron-seguin
peverley-kelly-caron/vet-minimum-guy
paille-campbell-thornton
chara-seidenberg
boychuk-bartkowski/krug
mcquaid-hamilton
rask
svedberg (AHL goalie of the year this past season)

that looks fine to me.

I think they would still have enough money left to get a guy that could plug into the 1st line on a short deal and then soderberg can start out on the 3rd line. What's important is they arent tying what they could use for 3 decent players into one player(who is injury ridden, despite his great playoff exploits.) Horton isnt a fuck up the cap level player.

with the above roster, they've got $400K in cap space. like i said, short of dumping any one of peverley/kelly/boychuk, this would be my prediction of the squad.

Do your numbers include re-using Savard's money?

yes. the above roster assumes he's LTIR'd.

also:
Shawn Hutcheon: Hearing the Bruins won’t be re-signing Andrew Ference and could be looking to trade Rich Peverley and Johnny Boychuk.
I'm surprised by the "and" between those two players.

this sounds good, if by less Horton means he'll take less than he made this year.

I would also be surprised to see both of those players traded. I'm not totally against moving Boychuk, but he brings a physical presence that Hamilton, Krug, or Bartkowski dont, especially with Ference being gone.
