Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. Seriously? It was Cameron Crowe's first book; he went undercover as a teenager to write it. My understanding is that it's completely non-fiction, while the film was a fictitious version. Bonus trivia: It was Amy Heckerling's (Johnny Dangerously, Look Who's Talking 1&2, Clueless) first feature-length.

The second part I already knew. But not only did I not know it was a book first, I had no idea it was a Cameron Crowe book AND I'll even go further to say I had no idea Cameron Crowe had ever written a book.
