Unfortunately, we also learned in this episode that we will not be needing dragon platforms. The ships burned in Mereen so that the Iron Islands can come into play. I wonder how Dany is going to react when a civil war breaks out among her newest allies.

There are a few things left, but Euron's plan to wed Dany and give her ships is one of the last big plot points from the books. The Argonaut wrote:Unfortunately, we also learned in this episode that we will not be needing dragon platforms. I've got to imagine she'll be happier siding with Yara than having to marry some jerk.Simple Torture wrote:There are a few things left, but Euron's plan to wed Dany and give her ships is one of the last big plot points from the books. The Argonaut wrote:Unfortunately, we also learned in this episode that we will not be needing dragon platforms. I got this theory from Reddit: it's been theorized/hinted at many, many times that the Others can't move past the wall due to its magical properties--the Children helped men build it, so it's their magic that's probably responsible. Seems like a similar sort of magic was keeping the Others out of the cave, until Bran fucked that up. Since Bran's been "marked," does that mean that if he goes south of the wall, they can pass it, too?

That sounds about right. Bran and Meera will pass the Wall through the tunnel under the Nightfort, and the Night's King will follow.Simple Torture wrote:I got this theory from Reddit: it's been theorized/hinted at many, many times that the Others can't move past the wall due to its magical properties--the Children helped men build it, so it's their magic that's probably responsible. I've gotta think more about this, but I think we've gotta focus a bit more on the revelation that the Others are basically a WMD that's spiraled out of control. Does this tell us anything about their motivation? Do they have any agency beyond a desire to fight against men / the Children? Perhaps it's a sign of things to come re: dragons being quite similar, that is: thought of my most people to just be weapons? As I said, I need to think more about it.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The stone cairns in the grove where the children created the first other are arrayed in the same spiral pattern that the others made out of horse heads at the fist of the first men. I'm not sure what that's supposed to signify, but it's more than happenstance.Simple Torture wrote:I've gotta think more about this, but I think we've gotta focus a bit more on the revelation that the Others are basically a WMD that's spiraled out of control.
