Perfect - this song is pretty strange, haven't heard her do a song like this ever. She barely sounds the same on the vocals even. Oh, it just kicked in with some more drums. Now, we are good. "To hurry UPPPPP" that part was awesome. The growing intensity in the vocals, starting tender, and now growing.

Whoa it was like O____O and then back to soft. This song is very theatrical which I appreciate. Good stuff.

YES!! Hand in my Pocket!! I love the harmonica on this song, I love the vibe...I love the melody. This song gets stuck in my head "BAAAAY-beh!!" Man this first chorus is so good. It hits the spot perfectly.

The vocals on this song are so great.

Its such a good blend of pop and grunge!!

This background music...these chords. They are perfect.

Listening to this now I am 100% certain this is my favorite song by her and its not close. I could listen to this on repeat for a long time.

The lyrics are kind of goofy though. I don't care it sounds too good. The constant changing of what her other hand is doing makes me laugh, though Im sure its not supposed to.

But the real question with all this misdirection is, WHAT DOES SHE HAVE IN THE HAND THATS IN HER POCKET?!?!?!

Jagged Little Pill to Under Rug Swept is such a fucking monster three record run. All three of those records just destroy me. And the b-sides from URS are also some of her strongest songs. There was a second album left over that could have been even better than the first.

When she played Sister Blister live in KC on the URS tour I almost passed out. What a fucking powerhouse song. So catchy and pungent and angry and potent and artistic. Wonderful sentiment and important discussion backed by pure rock and roll.

Yeah, I think its the pop/grunge blend that is so cool. The music is poppy but the vocal delivery is intense angsty and harsh. Combined it creates something very magical.

Im a bit worried now though. I have lost my footholds until Ironic later - I dont know any of these songs. And I have trouble appreciating a lot of new songs in a row from the same artist. So this may make me lukewarm. Im just not good at listening to songs by album. Its just too much to take in.

Right Through You - That said, this song is pretty good. Heavier. There are a lot of great guitar sounds on this album. When the tone cleans up, I just love the sounds of those chords. Aww lame ending though, with those drum hits I was waiting for a moment of silence and then to come back in with a roaring guitar solo or something, but no.

Forgiven - Wow, this is good. Not sure if any of these songs will be like the songs on this album that I just love, or if Ill want to listen to it again, but for this first listen at least, I am enjoying the vibe. What a cool chord progression on the....pre-chorus? I dont know what part it is. Whoa, whats that sound on the chorus? Sounds like some plucky string instrument. Very cool. For some reason this pre-chorus kind of reminds me of Tremor Christ.

The production on this album is insanely good.

When I talk about how static Binaural/Riot Act is, this is kind of what I mean. These songs are just monsters, they grow, they change, they bring me new places.

Binaural and Riot Act need to be more like... Alanis Morissette?

You Learn - Again I am impressed with the production. A lot of instruments working together to make a cool cohesive vibe. Now while I do really enjoy this song, I am feeling that album fatigue I often do, its hard for me to take in new albums. I enjoy appreciating things by the song better usually. Because this song, like the ones before it, is really good, but I dont know if Im feeling anything NEW. Maybe though, if I heard this on the radio in between other different bands, Id appreciate it on its own merits more, and form more of an attachment.

For me, I dunno if album based listening is the best way to learn new music - FOR ME at least. But it was good, especially that one high note she kept hitting.

Head Over Feet - I think this is my least favorite so far. Not a big fan. Its not bad, but doesnt do as much for me as the ones before it. This song sounds weirdly familiar though. I dont know, maybe Ive heard it before somehow. It sounds so familiar...Oh, at least there's a harmonica solo in the middle. I approve. But otherwise its kind of overly long to me.

Yeah, Binaural and Riot Act both have absolutely brilliant production. Let's not get crazy here.

Yeah, I'm shocked if you haven't heard these two songs before. Both were massive radio hits.

Its not about the production, its about the static nature of songs on that album, versus how these songs feel a lot more dynamic - they build, they remain interesting, they grow.

Mary Jane - Good, but as I said, I get tired during albums - so so far no song has been great enough to rise above the fact Im hearing all of these for the first time. Still really good though.

Ironic - This song is a good one but I dont like it as much of her other hits. But when that chorus kicks in I approve. Its a great chorus. Its a very very good song. Just not my favorite of the three hits

Not the Doctor -> Digging it. I like the chorus with the harmony line the whole time. Digging the groovy drums. And the extra punch in the guitar. Kind of bobbing my head. Good stuff. Man I just love the rhythm of the chorus.

Wake Up -> Not liking it as much as the others. I think this might be my least favorite on the album so far.
