There's a shot from one of the trailers of a hooded figure on horseback hitting a wight with a flaming torch,so it certainly fits.

Although, the more I think about it, the more I think that the show will make it Benjen who saves them.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. But isn't it pretty well regarded among readers that Benjen IS Coldhands? I thought it was the most popular and legitimate theory since L+R=J.

Nah, they killed him long ago, according to the CotF. And by their reckoning nothing that happened in recent memory would be "long ago".

Normally I'd agree with you, but the original reddit post is pretty comprehensive, with lots of photos of George's notes on the manuscript. So, unless it's been debunked and I never heard about it, I'd say it's accurate.

agreed, since the show never wastes screen time on anyone who doesn't factor in somehow, and i don't remember there being any point to benjen back in season one.

This world hasn't taken good care of guys like him; yet I can't imagine they'd introduce him this late on the game if he wasn't going to have a real impact. What, if anything, from his past travels might give insight to any alliances/angle he could have?
