did this happen?

which episode?
I guess it didn't.
did it happen in the books, maybe? or was this just wishful thinking?
Yeah. They're camped at Oldstones I believe just before the red wedding. They're planning on taking back moat callin
Thanks, I wish I had a better memory for what I've read; any chance you could be book/chapter specific?

George R.R. Martin revealed 3 huge shocks to Game of Thrones producers

http://www.ew.com/article/2016/05/24/ge ... me-thrones
“People are talking about whether the books are going to be spoiled – and it’s really not true,” Benioff said. “So much of what we’re doing diverges from the books at this point. And while there are certain key elements that will be the same, we’re not going to talk so much about that – and I don’t think George is either. People are going to be very surprised when they read the books after the show. They’re quite divergent in so many respects for the remainder of the show.”

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The article doesn't mention any. I know that Stephen King donated a lot of working manuscripts to a university somewhere, and you have to visit the library to see them -- no digital access is allowed. I would only assume this is similar.
Most academic libraries with collections like this also make you surrender your phone and only allow paper and pencil inside--I've been to a number. It provides the libraries with cred and they get more grants, donors, etc. The fact that this one picture is out there is actually a big deal.

Perhaps. But, as I talked about in the show thread, I'm thinking this will be the season where Jaime gets it, too, which would obviously be a bigger deal.

Are you? I wasn't. :| But I understand the need for him to be Coldhands in the show. Bran needs a mentor/protector and they didn't want to introduce a new character.
I hope in the books Benjen and ColdHands remain separate.

I've never understood the fuss about Coldhands. I like the idea of Benjen still being alive with him being a Stark and all. It furthers the Starks' connection to magic and Martin's penchant for underdog heroes.

Same.

Honestly, in the books I don't think we're ever getting Benjen back, and I think that's how I want it. For all the characters that go and then come back, and for everything that is more than what it seems, it's nice to have some things that are what they seem. Benjen went north of the wall during a time when it was more perilous to do so than it had been before. He wasn't the only ranger to do so, and he wasn't the only ranger to lose his life because of it.
The Starks might have connections to magic, but that doesn't make them immortal. And the fact that a Stark, a First Ranger of the Night's Watch, can succumb to the others like any other man really says something about the thread looming over men.

Book Benjen is a MacGuffin, I think. But I'm totally fine with them making him Coldhands on the show.

Benjen Stark really had two purposes in this story: To provide mystery/heighten the threat, and to get Jon to the Wall.

The show can do whatever they want, it's not like it's very good at this point.

See, I'm really enjoying the show this year, specifically because I don't have the books to compare it to. It's freed me up to enjoy the show on it's own merits, without constantly thinking "that's not how it is in the books."
