I'm hoping that the Hodor incident makes Bran learn his lesson not to fuck with the past too much, and just be an observer when he goes back in time.

I'm on board with chud here. Two points:

1. As chud suggested, I think Hodor's death will cause Bran to become more conservative, not more radical. In one fell swoop, his messing with his greenseer abilities (a) caused Willas to become Hodor; (b) killed Hodor; (c) killed the Raven; (d) killed the last remaining Children (that we know of); and (e) drove he and Meera out of the cave and into winter. These awful theories of him traveling back and building the Wall and being the voices that drove the Mad King insane and even being the Last Hero, they're just pulling at straws, I think, and come from the same urge people have to concoct 30 different theories about secret identities and hidden parentages and so on. Bran's going to take a few episodes to get over getting his best friend in the whole world (the only character in the entire universe who was without blemish or flaw [and with a huge dick besides]), and I think it'll harden him and make him much more careful.

2. Most people have just sort of assumed, "Wow, Bran has these powers, let's see how he uses them next!" But how is he going to get connected to the Weirwood network? There aren't that many left. He's probably on his way to Winterfell and will get there just after Jon and his forces take it, and that'll allow him to have his visions again. But once he taps in, will that draw the Others and their army to Winterfell? I figure that'll be next season's "epic battle" episode.

forgive me if this has been covered in the thread already but there is just a lot of goddamn information to process with this show for us non book readers....

With Bran Stark and his visions/being able to go back in time and communicate ( i sense this is getting stronger ) Did he cause hodor's death? What happened first? I feel like this is a back to the future thing, or a "chicken or the egg" thing.

this is why the concept of time and time travel confuse me.

This case is interesting.

What I got from the episode is that not only does Bran have the powers of a greenseer (he can go back in time and see what happened) but he's also a warger (can put his consciousness in another living creature). Bran greesees back in time and then accidentally wargs into young Hodor, causing him to freak the fuck out.

What we saw in the show, the way I see it, isn't just straight time travel. So, I have no idea how many more times we're going to see examples of this in the show. There maybe zero other examples of this kind of thing in the storyline. This could be one unfortunate isolated incident.

No, it would be awful. The Mad King's burn it all moment was the culmination after years of a steady decline into madness. He didn't need an exterior force to get him there. Hodor's hold the door moment was instantaneous.

Didn't I already tell you that this story is single timeline time travel? Back to the Future was mutliple timeline time travel. Very different things.
