Re: 1998 Matt Interview
Actually, almost all of his song writing credits are for co-written songs.
Being the sole writer for both the music and the lyrics for a song is a fairly unusual metric to apply to song writing though, especially when you apply it to an individual writer in two different bands where the lead singer writes the lion's share of lyrics.

Re: 1998 Matt Interview
I was counting music writing credits only meaning if he's credited for the music and Cornell for the lyrics i counted that as a full credit. It's logical as the discussion was about the music specifically, not the lyrics.zeb wrote:Actually, almost all of his song writing credits are for co-written songs.

I also don't really see the logic of using the amount of songs written as a determinant on whether someone "likes" writing or not. The speed with which one writes isn't necessarily a good barometer for their affinity for writing, from my experience.

Re: 1998 Matt Interview
I never said i though it was a bullet proof argument. You also have to consider the context in which i made the observation (a couple of times).digster wrote:I also don't really see the logic of using the amount of songs written as a determinant on whether someone "likes" writing or not. The point originally wasn't so much about his affinity to writing but the frequency. When some say there aren't many or any of his contributions to PJ records for whatever artistic reason, they aren't making an argument that is any more logical or a barometer for whatever considering he contributes as much to PJ as he does to Soundgarden.
Otherwise, yes, it's all a series of subjective arguments that have relative validity as would be expected considering we're talking about music.

I don't, at all. I don't dislike any of his contributions to PJ.E.H. Ruddock wrote:He hates Matt Cameronzeb wrote:I really have no idea what Mine is saying or trying to prove at this point.

He's done more than just riffs, he's even written some lyrics for songs that ended on the records, so again you could read whatever you want into that.

Re: 1998 Matt Interview
I was trying to say that Matt Cameron not having a writing credit on a record of a band he's part of isn't unprecedented. So there being none of his songs on LB it's not an anomaly because it is still consistent with his song writing track record.zeb wrote:Now I really have no idea what you're trying to say.
The bulk of my posts were me explaining where my observation that he has an average of around 1 song per record with both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam came from.
I didn't comment on the quality of his compositions (btw I'd easily take his contributions over Mike's, Jeff's and what's left of Stone's on PJ records) i didn't even say he dislikes writing.

If Eddie wrote all the songs and all the lyrics then you would be happy.Mine wrote:Mine wrote:I didn't comment on the quality of his compositions (btw I'd easily take his contributions over Mike's, Jeff's and what's left of Stone's on PJ records) i didn't even say he dislikes writing.

I do tend to lean towards dirtier or rawer so that'd make sense.wease wrote:Yeah. A lot rougher around the edges. "Dirtier" if you will. Its is just a tad slower, which is my only tiny problem with it.Fuzzcharger wrote:Good read![]()
I've been digging on the sub pop single version of this lately after revisiting Telephantasm. Heaps better than the BMF one.wease wrote:Room A Thousand Years Wide is quite possibly the best song Soundgarden or Pearl Jam ever recorded.
