And even though it was a bit too precious in parts, I did enjoy reading her new memoir/book. Especially the stuff about the Olympia scene/early S-K times.

Same here - she's a very intelligent woman and a great writer.

Funny reading all these comments... knowing that the reason SK went on hiatus, was partly because Carrie couldnt handle the new found fame the band received after playing shows with Pearl Jam.

I never got the feeling she wanted to be famous, ive always felt like she wants to be respected by her peers more than her fans.

I haven't heard that version. The standard line seemed to be because Corrine had a kid and wanted to spend more time at home. Seems strange to then go and do a tv show with Fred Armisen if you don't want attention.

the TV show started off as a skit / web series no one was supposed to see, and as it evolved into more, she realized she could escape within the characters. I'm pretty sure she discussed it in her book (which i havnt read yet) but she was in pretty bad shape in 2006. Actually spent a few nights in Hospitals during tours with anxiety attacks.
