I hear ya. So I guess my point is this: Unlike the OT, there isn't a single character on either side who is very scary. Maybe Snoke was suppose to be it, but that didn't work for me in TFA.Strat wrote:I dont think he's supposed to though and thats what i like about him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Coach wrote:That's been my vote since the beginning. I saw the film twice in theaters and once at home. I'm not feeling compelled to re-watch for awhile. I just don't "buy in" with Kylo Ren as a bad guy. He doesn't scare me like Vader did.dprival78 wrote:i'm liking this movie less as time goes on. all of the rehashing and plot holes that i was able to overlook earlier, i'm not able to overlook them as easily now. had to change my vote (again).. dropping down to 'better than the prequels, not as good as the originals".
i'm almost at a point where i wish lucas was involved somehow.. at least to provide a basic outline of a story.
still looking forward to seeing where it all goes from here though.

Agreed, I think the new movies need to depart from the original formula and that's why I was excited to hear that guy from Looper was making the next one. We def need some WTF type, did that really happen? type twists. And I am optimistic about that.stip wrote:I was with some friends last weekend and this movie came up. Everyone loved it. One person said that a lot of OT stuff felt dated or clumsy and it is getting harder for him to ignore it, and that FA was his favorite.
It would be super interesting to see a story where Rey gets consumed with revenge on Kylo, and in the course of the story their positions reverse.

Especially if it does turn out that Kylo killed her parents and Luke was simply her guardian and put her into hiding.
Rey going to the dark side is not out of the realms of possibility either.

That's true. Depending on how the story goes that will either be a (potentially correctable) limitation or unnecessary if this is really about a few character relationships against the background of a warCoach wrote:I hear ya. I gotta be honest here, guys. I've kept it in for far too long.... Darth Vader was never scary to me. Even as a kid, I always thought he was a little silly. Pfhew. That feels good to finally say out loud.

I don't remember ever being scared of him either. I didn't think he was silly though.

That's not true. All the military leaders he deals with are terrified of him.

Petulant? Vader? Disagree. You don't have to be petulant if everyone's terrified of you.

Can we start a general "Dime's Twitter interactions with Star Wars cast and crew" thread
