Re: Post Random Movie-Related Thoughts You Have
I mean, but really, how much pull does Bay actually have on any of these Turtle movies? He's a producer, I get that. But is he involved with actual decision making or is he a producer the way Nolan was a producer on Man of Steel?

The first one was a truly dreadful film, by any standard. I do not plan on watching the new one, even with my dad's glowing endorsement

They're very much Michael Bay movies. I'll explain my hate later, I'm having to post from my phone lately cause my computer's having some problems, and posting from a phone kinda sucks.

Really? Fascinating. Why hire outside directors if he's gonna be so involved, even down to character design? Either way... I don't plan on seeing the movies. Maybe I will eventually. But I certainly won't make any real effort to do so.VinylGuy wrote:He is very much involved in everything in the movie...from the scrip to the designs of the characters...everything.durdencommatyler wrote:I mean, but really, how much pull does Bay actually have on any of these Turtle movies? He can do all of that as a director, too. Especially as "Executive Producer."tragabigzanda wrote:Presumably because he doesn't have to be on set daily. He can design the overall look and feel of the movie, watch the dailies from the back of his limo, and make adjustments from wherever it is he goes to pay homage to the dark overlords who have granted him his powers.durdencommatyler wrote:Really? But no one wants to direct a movie with no credit. Easier to just hire a director and yell at him from the producer chair.durdencommatyler wrote:He can do all of that as a director, too. Bankrolling, you mean, like the guy who owns the production company making the movie?tragabigzanda wrote:An EP credit is usually given to people who bankroll the film, or otherwise support the project without any creative input.durdencommatyler wrote:He can do all of that as a director, too. If he were a director, he's be expected to be on location every day, unless he has a gaggle of Second Unit directors doing all the heavy lifting, which is certainly possible but not likely.
I know how it works man. I'm just saying. At this point, with his name, he could collect both credits and be away from set as much as he wanted. It happens all the time. Especially on this money-grab properties.
Just seems weird to want massive amounts of control and input, as someone who is a director, and not also want to direct. Or take credit for directing. Seems much more likely to me that Bay isn't all that involved in any aspect. But if VG is right, and I don't have any reason to doubt him, it's fucking weird. That's all I'm saying.
