Spot on. There's a lot of work to be done to claw back to the day Abbott began his run.

things that would be cool...

-tsunami sinks australia
-endless hurricanes hit australia, internet access is cut, thus preventing all the psychos from ever getting online
-earthquake hits australia..all the prisoner's descendants die, but the natives get their land back
-domestic violence becomes legal, so every time a stupid bitch cheats on her partner he's allowed at least an uppercut and right cross
-people stop calling me "mate". I'm not your fucking mate, guy.
There's plenty for all.

We are an impossibility in an impossible universe.

no Burt, its weird. I'm very tolerant of race/religion/sexual preference/sexual identity.....for some weird reason every encounter i've had with ozzies has ended up with me holding the shortest straw.

The general feel is that the contract for subs would have been awarded to Japan had Abbott continued as PM with construction being done largely, if not entirely, overseas.

Under Turnbull (the new PM) there is a good chance the subs will be primarily built in South Australia, my home state. It's a big issue locally as we have the highest unemployment rate in the country currently.
National defense as a jobs program -that's what makes the world go 'round? I suppose Turnbull should get some kudos for not insisting on an entirely local submarine design.

I'm finding it difficult to muster up much enthusiasm either.

Don't get me wrong, I think Shorten would be a dreadful Prime Minister, but it's more that I feel that to some extent we've been living through a hellish, never-ending election campaign since 2007 or so with all the leadership battles and so on.

It's exhausting after a while.

I honestly cannot think of a man or woman currently in the game who I'd like to see as our PM.

I think Malcolm is doing a very good job for the most part and it's my expectation that the Liberals will quite comfortably win another term - I'm just kind of burnt out on the whole thing.

I think Turnbull is struggling - he hasn't united the party, seems incapable of following through on non-economic matters that he seemed invested in before rolling Abbot and his approach to the NBN was horribly shortsighted.

But yes, burnt out we all are.
