I agree completely. Amazing movie experience.durdencommatyler wrote:Upstream Color.
Gorgeous. Challenging. Thought provoking. Emotionally absorbent. A brilliant and worthy follow-up to Primer. I loved it. Highly recommend it.

Re: What Movies are you watching?
Anybody have any thoughts on von Trier's Antichrist? I see it's on Netflix Instant and I'm thinking of checking it out.
I've only seen three of his others: Dancer in the Dark (which I adore), Dogville (which is good, not great) and Melancholia (which I loved).
Is this thing worth my time? Or is it just way too off-putting?

I think you'll like it. It's super off-putting, and deliberately difficult, but there's a lot to appreciate and think about. Although one particular sequence made me laugh really fucking hard in the theater. You'll know what it is when you see it.

Jack the Giant Slayer.
Family movie night. Terrible effects. Poor acting. Shit script. Kinda appreciated what they were trying to do, but it just came across as a poorly done mash-up of Shrek and LOTR.

A Bridge Too Far (1977) Meh. An all star cast, but a little outdated.
Watching Harper (1966) today.

Monsters University
Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but still third-rate Pixar. About as good as the original Cars, but not Cars 2 bad. The short (The Blue Umbrella) before the movie was awesome, however.

No idea what all the hype around this was for, I was bored out of my mind.

Martin Scorsese telling a story about the pioneer days of moving pictures....of course the critics are going to be head over heels.
I thought it was ok. Really didn't move me in any particular way.

watched despicable me and thought it was pretty stellar, perfect for a lazy summer evenning.
Tonight I will end canada day with "the man who wasn't there". A standard, enjoyable coen brothers movie I assume?
