Superunknown may just be the best album in the last 25 years excluding Vitalogy.

They're both great but Superunknown comfortably beats out Vitalogy for me.

That's hard to say, I love different things about both bands and I get different joys out of Superunknown than I do any Pearl Jam record.
In terms of my personal attachment, I'd say Vs is on a par with Superuknown - they're both incredibly consistent records.

I, too, have trouble ranking albums from the early to mid 90s. There are 5-10 records that are totally immense in my life and I love them all dearly.Birds in Hell wrote:That's hard to say, I love different things about both bands and I get different joys out of Superunknown than I do any Pearl Jam record.

Superunknown has Spoonman, and therefore is seriously marred.

For context, I also like RATM way, way, way more than SG. SG is a band of very talented musicians making music that isn't as interesting as they are.

Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
I dont think Soundgarden and Audioslave are even in the same league.
Im a big fan of both, but the growth from, let say, Louder than love to Superunknown isnt something you see in every band.
From Badmotorfinger to Dotu, every album is a really challenging one, full with little surprises...and SU and Dotu arent full of fillers, every song is needed.
I can agree with the notion that Audioslave first album is amazing, and that perhaps, its more catchy and in your face than any of SG material...SG´s piece of work demands you more.
And i do think those 4 are better when they are together...with the exception of Ben. He is always better.

Man I think there is a BUNCH of filler on SU and DOTU.

For the record, I am not necessarily saying AS are a better BAND than SG. Just that their first album is - front to back - better than any SG album.

I totally get it if you love SG that much. I've always liked them but they've never been a favorite.

I still think Audioslave first album is such a impressive collaboration, feels cohesive, brings the best of both worlds, and at the same time it hints of something new to come.

Yeah, Team LVLoathedVermin72 wrote:Cochise, Show Me How to Live, and The Last Remaining Light are all better than any SG song. Also, every SG album has a ton of filler.
I like all the members of SG but I feel like they kind of bring out the worst in each other.

Audioslave was some decent forgettable alt-rock but I'm not a huge SG fan either. I'd probably give the edge to SG just for being different.
