Guns, when they are in the home, can make self-harm both easy and deadly.

Many of the gun-control measures that politicians propose to reduce the number of homicides and mass shootings would have a limited effect on gun suicides. Efforts to ban so-called assault weapons or to reduce the number of bullets that could be loaded into a gun at once would probably not make suicide any less likely. But other measures meant to prevent gun homicides might have an effect on gun suicides, particularly those designed to identify and help people with mental health needs. Mental illness, which may contribute to mass shootings, is a clear risk factor for suicide.

This passed February we lost a family member to suicide. Her boyfriend - he really loved his 2nd amendment. But he was also a drunk idiot that misplaced his gun one night while they were fighting on Facebook. He accused her of stealing it. She was suicidal to begin with and had been battling severe depression for years. I was concerned when he mentioned a gun was missing so I messaged him. I assume he ignored me and unfriended me because he thinks I'm a stupid liberal.

Fast forward a year later or so - we were summoned to his house early one Monday morning because her mother was looking for her everywhere and found her dead in his garage.

This experience has fortified my complete disdain for these type of marlboro man - low IQ - 2nd amendment loving men with small dick syndrome.

for those of us who have ceded all autonomy to Amazon Prime and are now incapable of doing anything other than 1-click purchasing; it would be great if someone made an app/website where there is a template out there that discusses support for gun restrictions and you just type in your name and address and it identifies your congressional reps and then you pay online for postage/shipping online (prob under $1) and it mails a postcard with this type of stuff on it to your reps

then you don't have to get up, go find envelopes, find paper, write stuff, find a stamp, etc and if you are out of any of them, have to go to the post office and risk getting caught up in a mass shooting

instead just like a 1-click amazon prime type thing for congress letter sending ... a lot more letters would probably get sent

Fuckin' hell, dude. We were out of envelopes. Mailing those letters required a trip to Staples. Also, when addressing them, I realized that my Senator is Thom Tillis, not Tim Tillis, which required me to write the first page of his letter a second time.
