Both of these have been a bore so far. ESPN shared a video of a Irish fan in a horse mask kicking a ball through a third story window that was way more entertaining.

I'm staying home tonight and hoping the rain just cancels the Copa semi between Chile and Colombia. Although I will kick myself if I miss out on the opportunity to see their female fan bases wet.

These Italians are nothing special. And they're getting angry and losing it. Should be at least three penalties for us now. We'll get one before half time.

I thought it was common knowledge how weak this Italian team was going into the tournament. I don't get the people that think they are going to make a deep run.

Not really a surprise, Italy has nothing to play for in this game.

Not helping their cause by constantly fouling. And having nothing to play for doesn't mean you sit back. They're not we're just playing better. Should be four penalties now. Ref has no balls. There'll be a break but we've gotta hope it's not our end.

We deserved more but that'll do. What a goal. Brady started it from 70 yards out and didn't take his eye off the ball and simple elegant header over the keeper. Beauty :)

The MLS is a minor league.

Soccer fans expecting that the US Men's team should be a dominant entity in the world of soccer are delusional. Countries around the world with a fraction of the US's population wipe the floor with the USMNT because their best athletes play soccer. Just like the US's best athletes play football & basketball. I don't know how that can even be looked at as a debate. It's a fact.

Honest questions:
-Is there a top 50 player in the world currently playing in the MLS?
-Is there a top 50 player in the world currently on the USMNT?

Who in this thread disagrees with any of those points? Although thinking even 95% basketball and football players would be good at soccer is pretty fucking stupid. Just because I as a fan support my team doesn't mean I am delusional. I could type out a much longer response but you're just trolling so stfu.

verb_to_trust wrote:Tom Brady, Mike Trout and a 6 foot 8 hgh freak would all be awesome at soccer, you're right.
While these guys are kind of trolling, these are not the athletes he's talking about. Someone like O'Dell Beckham (who did play soccer and was quite good before focusing on football) Russell Wilson, Jamaal Charles, etc. would be the guys involved in this type of hypothetical. I think there is some credence to the idea that our best athletes aren't funneled into soccer.

And LeBron could be a pretty excellent goalkeeper in a hypothetical world.
