Re: Not worthy of a thread News
So I read this story and was concerned...
http://www.freep.com/story/news/2016/06 ... /86265416/
Basically a guy dropped his kids off at daycare, but the 6 month old was sick. Got home, fell asleep and had forgotten the kid in the car.
Wakes up, realizes the kid is in the hot car and instead of calling the authorities immediately he attempts to put the kid in the fridge to bring its temperature down. Doesn't work and the kid dies.
And now there is an arrest warrant for him.
and i think it bothers me. We have gone so far in our outrage, and demand for justice that we have (taking this guys word for it, obviously) criminalized mistakes- to the point that maybe we're turning mistakes into tragedies. I can imagine a situation where a person makes an honest mistake, and for fear of being charged, tries to fix that mistake and makes the situation worse.

If the kid was still alive when he tried to put him in a fucking refrigerator to save him instead of calling trained medical personnel he gets zero sympathy or leniency.

Children dying makes me so fucking sad. Normal, I know, I just hate it. Reading about incidents like that, or that kid with the gator, or gun accidents, and thinking about what they went through, and then what the parents have to live with. It makes me want to jump off a roof.

My wife actually pointed it out to me that I instinctively smile/chuckle when I hear about it
