Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Is there even anyone else? Cersei vs. High Sparrow is kind of evil vs evil. Daenerys just defeated her villains. There's the Freys I guess to whom something will probably happen next week. Euron might emerge as the next big evil next to the White Walkers.doone wrote:Strat wrote:ramsay was amazing. i will miss him on the show and im glad he went out the way he did.
I dont think there is a villain right now that im truly frightened of.

The Snow/Bolton parts were super good and very cinematic but the performances in Meereen were a bit on the nose. Overall, I don't think that this episode compared that favourably to some of the truly cinematic offerings from the shows I mentioned above.durdencommatyler wrote:"Maybe" just means I think this episode belongs in the conversation. You don't think this was a largely cinematic episode? You wouldn't entertain this one being in the conversations with those other shows?zeb wrote:I know a couple of episodes of Twin Peaks, True Detective and Deadwood that would like to speak to you.durdencommatyler wrote:Guys, that episode was outstanding. On every level. Maybe the most cinematic episode of television ever. Tense. Heartbreaking. Beautiful. Vengeful. Satisfying. I fucking loved it.

i don't think the caliber of the performances necessarily have much to do with the cinematic value of a show or movie.zeb wrote:The Snow/Bolton parts were super good and very cinematic but the performances in Meereen were a bit on the nose. Hot take: King's Landing is going to burn to the ground in Episode 10, so when Dany arrives the capital is going to be a scorched wasteland. She'll have a moment of reflection where she wonders, "Is this what I wanted?" This will make her more pliable and willing to head north and fight the others.lowlight79 wrote:Guys, isn't Danny the the bad guy now? She is going to raid and take over.

There's a theory among book readers that the trailer for the season finale is actually a misdirection--75% of the episode will probably take place in Dorne and focus on the sandsnakes consolidating their power through riveting negotiations with lords of lower houses.

Are you saying it will be scorched because of Dany or already before she arrives because Cersei is going to fuck shit up with all of the stashed explosives?cutuphalfdead wrote:That's what I've been telling people.Simple Torture wrote:Hot take: King's Landing is going to burn to the ground in Episode 10, so when Dany arrives the capital is going to be a scorched wasteland. Good point. Both of those main characters had faces and swords. Can't believe I missed that parallel.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Predictions for tomorrow night:
We get some massive wild fire in King's Landing.
Arya arrives in the Riverlands and sneaks into Riverrun to exact some revenge and ends up meeting Sandor and Brienne again.
Littlefinger wants to marry Sansa as payment for his help at the Battle.
Bran arrives at the Wall, killing it's magic with his zombie tattoo, and the White Walkers march south.
