so, to be clear, you are worried about the script?

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I wouldn't say that I'm worried about it, no. I've liked other films Chris has written. It's just the only component I'm not 100% sold on just yet. There is some dialogue in the trailer that made me wince. But those moments could be better in full context. It's just the one remaining unknown for me. I don't expect the script to be bad. Just... we'll call it cautiously optimistic.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Everything I've seen so far gets me excited. I dont care if its worse or better than other star wars. Im just hoping it adds to the overal star wars story. The prequels added nothing for me. Often times it detracted from the universe. Im hoping these anthology films, and this one in general, just adds a little bit more gravitas to one of my favorite series of films.
Hey, its star wars.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
So far, based on the trailer alone, the tone of this feels like it hits the closest to what I've always wanted a Star Wars story to feel like. When I was a kid and I would write fan fiction or act out movies with my action figures or whatever, I was always aiming for something darker and more threatening and heavy in tone.
I hope this is that. I hope they don't deviate too far from what they set up in that first trailer with these reshoots. I'm not saying I want a full on R-Rated, Saving Private Ryan-esque, FUCKING WAR MOVIE. Just a grittier, slightly darker, slightly weightier war-style film set in the Star Wars Universe.
Whatever happens, I'm sure it'll be a fun ride. There are too many interesting elements. No way is this movie a shit-show.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Every star wars movie must have the crawl.Strat wrote:This is going to be so great. Im also surprised they were so candid about the film and reshoots.
I hope they go with the opening crawl. I love that its going to be a different story and tone, but i want it to weave seamlessly into the greater star wars universe and i think having some things that are pertinent to star wars are littered through the film. Opening crawl the music, sound effects, swipes etc...
Even though he isn't scoring it I still hope it opens and closes with the star wars music before it goes into whatever new songs/themes they would reprise

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Actually, guys, I might be on the other side of this. I won't be mad if it has the crawl (and obviously the score). But I like what KK said about taking this opportunity to distinguish these movies from the main saga.
I guess, what I'm saying is, if they do the crawl, great. But I'm not married to it. I don't think it'll be any less "Star Wars" without it.

I'm hoping it doesn't have the crawl. Because that will be a good sign that they had the balls to take some chances in the movie.

It can in my mind. IDGAF if it really doesn't because I'll be too into the movie by then to remember why I didn't want the crawl.Strat wrote:It would not mean such a thing.E.H. Hey!durdencommatyler wrote:I mean, I know Vermacelli is gonna like this more than TFA just on principle. The whole movie could literally just be a Title Card and a Directed By Card and he'll like it more.
But for the rest of you awesome nerds out there. What are your true expectations for this? Do you think this movie has a real shot of surpassing the other Star Wars films for you? Are you trying not to think about all that and just see the movie without all that baggage?
Do you want this to be the best Star Wars film so far and what does it mean if it is?
