I was a big fan of the Kafkaesque/Borgesian tones in the Citadel.

Predictablish episode but the filmmaking was terrific once again. The first 20 minutes or so were flawless.

I try not to get caught up in the small stuff (like where did the dogs go in episode 1 of this season), but I feel like it's worth asking: how did Benjen expect them to get to/past the Wall? He could've at least given them the horse.

They could teleport like Varys did.

It is pretty clear by the other ships that the final scene takes place quite awhile after the other parts of the finale.

I saw some Martell sails in that fleet. So it's the ships that teleport, not him.

I'll have to watch Sam's scene again; someone on reddit says the big contraptions in the Citadel are the same as the opening credits.

The Citadel scene was good too. I loved the look on Sam's face seeing the library.

There's a theory among book readers that the contraptions in the Citadel control the seasons and they can make winter come

If you're a fan of Game of Thrones or of great tv and you didn't love every second of this episode... You're a terrible person and a lousy contrarian asshole. And you don't deserve tv. Or Game of Thrones. Or happiness.

He borrowed the car littlefinger used in season 3

Really happy for Tyrion being recognized by Dany. She can't find a better hand.

Considering I can't change the things they've already fucked up, they handled everything very well tonight.

Sure, I would have preferred
Spoiler: show
Doran
giving the
Spoiler: show
Fire and Blood
speech and
Spoiler: show
the Manderlies
not being made to look like giant pussies who don't remember the wolf's den and
Spoiler: show
Tyrion
not set up to be a good guy but if I have to accept where they've taken me, this was a great way to go out this season.

What makes you think Tyrion is set up to be a good guy?

The show hasn't given me any real reason to doubt his redemption since leaving Westeros.

In the books,
Spoiler: show
he sent a Blackfyre pretender to Westeros and potentially set up the second Dance of Dragons. He's a much bigger conniving little untrustworthy shit.
