He could be. The Targaryen's have a historical precedent for plural marriage, and the presence of the Kingsguard suggests the possibly that a member of the royal family remained behind. It seems odd that they would remain behind to protect Rhaegars side-piece, when they could have been of assistance on the trident.cutuphalfdead wrote:You mean because Jon is Rhaegar's son?BurtReynolds wrote:What would Dany think about no longer being the heir to the throne?
It shouldn't matter because he's still not trueborn.

I could see Rhaegar leaving kingsguard behind for his side piece because he married for duty, not love. His side piece was the one he loved most.Zantac Junkie wrote:He could be. But you're right, he absolutely could be legitimate. I just don't think he is and there's no hard evidence to suggest it outside the presence of the Kingsguard at the Tower of Joy.

It's all speculation, but it seems plausible. Also, would the Kingsguard accept orders outside of their usual duties from Rhaegar? He wasn't the king.cutuphalfdead wrote:I could see Rhaegar leaving kingsguard behind for his side piece because he married for duty, not love. In this case they might. Rhaegar was already planning to force an abdication by calling a great council, that's why he gathered the Lords at the Tourney of Harrenhal. If many in the realm were ready for Rhaegar to be king, it wouldn't surprise me if some in the Kingsguard were already treating him that way.Zantac Junkie wrote:It's all speculation, but it seems plausible. I forgot about his clandestine organization of the tourney. So, assuming that he didn't marry Lyanna and Jon isn't legitimate, I suppose that makes Jon a Blackfyre? Or did Targaryen bastards stop calling themselves that after the rebellion?cutuphalfdead wrote:In this case they might. I think you have to be exiled to be a Blackfyre. Bloodraven was a bastard to but he didn't adopt the Blackfyre name or cause.Zantac Junkie wrote:I forgot about his clandestine organization of the tourney. Blackfyre after he was given the Targaryen ancestral sword. The rest of the great bastards seem to have taken the bastard names of wherever their mothers hailed from, regardless of which side of the rebellion they landed on.
