We'll have all been blown into a nuclear oblivion about or exactly 8 months before this comes out.

Mindless zombies going to see Star Wars. It just wouldn't feel right. They'll probably all come out complianing afterwards.

I meant, specifically the director rumor. Any update on that? Is anyone else reporting it yet?

Spoiler: show
During an exclusive live chat with The Big Issue in London, Hamill made a off-handed comment about the upcoming Star Wars installments that had some major implications. He said, “I finish Episode VIII, and then I’m out of work.” Which could maybe mean that (*gasp*) Luke Skywalker could possibly die in this next movie. We already know that these modern Star Wars won’t shy away from killing major classic characters (we love you forever, Han Solo), but it seems crazy to kill off the main character of the entire series.

Then again, Rey is really the new star of the franchise and the one whose storyline we’ll obviously be following closely from here on out. And given that Luke may become an Obi-Wan Kenobe-like character to her, it’s entire possibly he’ll meet the same fate as his mentor. But, we also know that the Force is powerful and makes it so people who have passed on can still show up in ghost-like cameos whenever they want, so maybe there’s a little silver lining if it does happen.

This is, of course, a worst case scenario interpretation of that comment. Hamill could have also just been making the observation that he’s not yet signed on to do any more movies, even if his character stays alive at the end of the next film. At this point, we can only hope for the best and wait with anxious anticipation to see the OG Jedi back in action on the big screen.

I fully expect Luke to full on Kenobi in Episode 8. But he'll be in Episode 9, too.

Maybe very minor in episode IX. If they want to move forward with the SW Universe after these three, their best bet would be to get away from all the nostalgia.

Totally agree. He'll be in IX as much as Obi-Wan was in Jedi.

Hamill set the Internet into meltdown with a tweet saying he's out of a job soon.

He just meant he's almost finished filming. But it spawned a million click bait articles.

That makes total sense. And I'm not giving you shade, I promise. I was just curious if you read to see if anyone posted what you wanted to post or if you just went with it.

I had it drilled into my head when I was young to read and no repost things. So, I'm kinda neurotic about it. It's not big deal, man. I don't really care. It's all in good fun. I was just curious.
