I don't understand this kind of resentment towards the band at all.

Should they have been more active? Released more records? Why?
Yes, because more Tool albums would increase the overall happiness in the world. :-P
i'd buy a tool christmas record.

the message has become overwhelmingly positive over the past few albums.

lines like....

"In love with the darkness I'd found....."

which is past tense, suggesting he is no longer doing that....

also....

"If there were no desire to heal....the damaged and broken met along....this tedious path i've chosen here....I certainly would have walked away....by now...."

Damn, I miss Sarge...

Anyhoo, TOOL have announced fall headlining shows in Denver, SLC, Little Rock (of all places), as well as Voodoo and Aftershock festivals. Always a treat to see this band live, even if it HAS been over ten years since they've released anything new

Also, for those of you who think Puscifer sucks, you should check this video out... There's wrestling involved, and the great Carina Round :heartbeat:

From a new article with Buzz Osborne. Not sure if he's fucking around or not, but:

"Bands like Tool obviously spend about six months on their albums, and they’ve spent about ten years putting together the new one. And they haven’t even started recording yet, but Adam [Jones, Tool guitarist] told me the shortest song they’ve been working on is twelve minutes long."

The twelve minute song thing has been reported for a while, but it being the shortest song they're working on?

Twinflower wrote:I really like this band and now I can totally agree that they're smth like an icon in the alternative music genres :) But I can't deny that their music is very hard for listening and understanding, personally I can listen to it only in a rather special kind of mood :o
For now my the most favourite album is "Aenima", then comes "Lateralus" and only after it the famous "10 000 Days". The last one is good too (and it seems the most popular as I know) but for me it sounds not so good as the previous ones, don't know why... And I suppose that it's maybe better that band didn't released a new album after it :-|
I also listened to other Maynard's project, they're good too and I agree with his opinion that every his band is a totally independent thing. But I liked the most Puscifer, they're really cool! 8-) And A Perfect Circle seems too complicated for me, besides I don't totally understand their first album fulled totally with the covers.
A few notes:

What "last album" are you talking about?

You say that APC is complicated. They're - if anything - less complicated than Tool.

APC's first album of covers? That was their last album.

I guess some guitarist...not sure which band-queen of the stoneage guitarist maybe-was a little caught off guard.

Maynard would come in, nail his part, and the rest of the band had to at least come close to that level of professionalism.

This thread shot to the top of r/music last night on reddit. I wouldn't put too much stock in it, though, as it's just "a guy who knows a guy" and most of the upvotes probably came from people who didn't read the details:

New Tool Double-Album "Decem" Coming Fall 2016

I think Tool has been leading us on in the press. I absolutely cannot reveal my sources for this. Let's just say that the mixing process has happened.
Tracklist for Decem:
Abscissa (13:47) The Awakening (12:03) Gematria (Act I) (14:33) Regresolution (13:56) Divinotus (12:45) Astral (Act II) (12:21)
Descending (13:53) Decem (12:22) Lesous (Act III) (12:43) Principles of March (12:01) Pascal's Wager (13:46) Zeta (Act IV) (14:27)
